So I’ve always given my horses a shot of B12 when they were running low on energy or not feeling well. And I’ve taken B12 supplements myself and it works wonders.

I don’t really drink coffee. I do have a fatal addiction to Dr. Pepper though. I understand that B12 is an essential vitamin for providing energy for our bodies but I just can’t see it ever being as enjoyable as an ice cold soda in our lifetime.

I didn’t really the two were related at all. It seems like these substitutions or replacements would be easy and have great health benefits, but I’m sure they are expensive and much further research needs to be done.

I didn’t know caffeine was considered a drug. I never that B-12 was a energy booster. I didn’t know that caffeine was seriously addictive, the Dr. in the video is saying that you would have to wing yourself off of caffeine or you could have headaches. B-12 is the largest vitamin known. I know late at night there are infomercials about the benefits of B-12, but I didn’t think it still had so many benefits and could be a valid substitute for caffeine. I don’t drink coffee, but I am in with Coke and I am addicted to McDonalds SWEET TEA WITH LEMON. UMMM!!!!UMMM!!! That tea is pure goodness for only $1. And in doing my 3 day food record, I learned that the 32 oz tea has 230 calories and that is so unhealthy. One 32 oz of sweet tea is equivalent to 2 cans of coke. Sad to say, I use to drink 2 sweet teas a day. However, I have cut down my tea intake from to 2 to 1 to cut down on the calories.

“A day’s supply of vitamin B12 can be obtained by eating 1 chicken breast plus 1 hard-boiled egg plus 1 cup plain low-fat yogurt, or 1 cup milk plus 1 cup raisin bran. “

Vitamin B12:
I see how B12 is better for us as far as having more energy rather than sodas, it gives energy for a few hours and then you get really tired and need more when it wears off. It really drains of body energy and I understand that B12 will take longer for me to see that I have more energy if I notice at all because I may just keep going and then realize O I have more energy.

I know alot of people do not know that caffeine was a stimulant. I had a friend who drank a whole 2liter of mountain dew a day and it ate his stomach lining.

Yea it is a stimulant and not good for the kidneys either.

I don’t think I would like B-12. I’m too addicted to caffine and I have a hard time remembering to take vitamins anyways. I mean, it seems like a good, healthier alternative but I don’t think people would want to give up coffee or cokes for a vitamin.

I Agree. I like Dr Pepper and I wouldn’t want to give it up for a vitamin either. It would help tho I think it might keep as far as healthy energy and not just Dr Pepper energy. I think both would be okay. : )

This video really caught my attention! Every mornin my stepmom has to have a cup of coffee or her day is all messed up. I tell her everyday that she’s addicted but she always aruges. I think that I need to introduce her to this vitamn B12 so that she can get the same results except in a healthier way!

I understand that most people drink coffee in the morning to wake up and get going. I, on the other hand drink it more because I love it! I love the taste and the pick me up. I am happy to take vitamin B12 as a supplement but I will not be giving up my coffee. I have always thought that the effects of vitamins were not something that could be readily noticed but then again I have always been terrible about taking them consistently. I wonder if I could change my own mind and see a difference. I am surprised to hear that you should consult your doctor before adding supplements. What kind of reaction might occur?

I didn’t know B12 could be used for energy. I wonder if the caffeine is just more “addictive” than anything else so it was originally used in sodas and coffee. Maybe they discovered the caffeine first and may be worried some people might not want their product if it says on the label “Now with B12 instead of caffeine.” Our brains are programed to caffeine.

Thats crazy how much B12 does in the body. I know back when I was working out alot and doing a lot of school I started taking some B12 and cutting back on my caffeine. It made a big difference. Now I don’t drink but maybe one pop a day, but I also don’t take my suppliments anymore either. Perhaps thats why I alwasy feel tired.

I never have taken any vitamins, however, I may start on this vitamin. Im often tired from all the sports that I play and all my school work. I never have drank coffee or anything else to give me energy and I have also cut back on the soft drinks. This vitamin could be just what I need!

If vitamin B12 is better than caffeine, why is it no one has thought of replacing the caffeine in soft drinks with vitamin B12? Vitamin B12 would give us the energy we need without the nasty effects of becoming addicted like with caffeine. I wonder if you could buy a vitamin B12 in a liquid at a GNC?

SAF June 22, 2010 at 6:50 pm

I have to agree with you that seems to make the most since is to replace caffeine with this B12. But I wonder if the reason is that maybe putting B12 into the sodas might change the taste or something?

Reply

LMM June 22, 2010 at 10:42 pm

I also agree. Why not replace it if its better for our health?

QAL June 23, 2010 at 9:14 am

I agree that the caffeine must add to the taste of the sodas. It must also be cheaper to use instead of the vitamin B12, manufacturers always use the cheapest ingredients to maximize their profits.

RTP July 11, 2010 at 1:22 pm

There is probably a much greater expense involved. The people making sodas, and any other consumer goods for that matter, are only concerned with their bottom line.

“I also agree. Why not replace it if its better for our health?”

Replacing the high-fructose corn syrup with cane sugar would also be better for our health but I don’t see soft drink companies rushing to make the switch.

RLM June 23, 2010 at 9:24 pm

I also agree. But i wonder how much you would have to have to replace the caffeine and if it would be an overload.

Thats what I was thinking that if they did it would probably be overlaod

JHR July 27, 2010 at 12:58 pm

It probably would be an overload, and I’m also wondering if the taste would change
