First of all, the roller skating babies was hilarious. It’s amazing how far technology has come to make something so incredible. Now, for the super foods video. Have they stopped teaching basic nutrition to kids today? I’m in my early forties, and many of the things they mentioned were taught to me in gradeschool. The exceptions would be the olive oil (not a widely used ingredient in the seventies) and the milk (there were only two kinds of milk; buttermilk and regular milk). The video was informative, and I think if more people would integrate these foods into their diet they would find an improvement in their overall health.

I really enjoyed the roller babies video. They were awesome dancers. Anyhow, the second video had a lot of good information and I enjoyed that as well. The nutrition list is good because I love most the things on the list. My husband enjoys gardening, so I usually get to pick out all my favorite veggies and fruits and he will grow them for our family. Its nice to know that you can just walk outside your house and get the most nutritious meal available. Now that is way more convenient than any “fast food” restaurant. Also, I would like to add that eating things that are oily, make my face feel dirty and oily almost immediately. That might just be psychological on my part though.

Wow!! Where was that water when I was a baby? LOL. Too cute. That was a great list of foods to choose from but it would have been more helpful to show how much of each food to eat. I’ve learned from previous studies that the skin, hair and nails are the last on the list of importants to get nutritients from the body. Question: If you change your diet to eating this list of food along with other healthy food, would there still be a need for daily vitamins?
Oh yea, I thought for sure water would have made this list. Water is very very important for the skin and hair.

I really enjoyed the first video. The babies were sooo cute. I’ve been drinking mostly water for a very long time. I’ve completely eliminated sodas from my life. Occasionally I’ll drink a half and half tea, but not very often.

The second video was very informative on what foods are not only healthy, but great for your skin! My skin is something I struggle with daily. So it’s great to see that I like many of these foods. I’ve started to eat healthier and knowing that this will also help me with my skin problems is bonus!

i found that the i eat very little of these items. i style hair and recommend olive oil to all of my clients that have dry brittle hair or the ones that chemically treat their hair. i am going to switch from canola to olive oil.

The “Healthy Food=Beautiful Skin” video was very interesting. I had no idea that soy products help prevent cancer. Also, I didn’t know that 2% milk isn’t exactly good for you. And, broccoli as a substitute for milk is very interesting to me. I don’t like milk, unless it’s chocolate milk, and I don’t like broccoli, unless it’s smothered in cheese sauce, and neither of those are healthy foods. I never imagined spinach having that many vitamins. I definitely need to start eating better, so it will be easier for me to teach my son to eat healthy foods.

I love the first video! It was definitely a neat way to get people’s attention about drinking water. I used to have a big problem with drinking water, but not anymore. For some reason over 6 years ago (March 2005) I decided to stop drinking sodas and drink more water. I quit cold turkey and haven’t drink a soda since and 99 percent of the time I drink water, with the occasional tea and very rarely juice or milk. The second video had a great list of foods that help your skin! Which is great for me since mine is not exactly perfect. I don’t know how well any of these foods will help with rosacea, but trying them won’t hurt, especially since I like most of the foods on the list. I’ve recently wanted to start becoming more healthy. The eating part is the hardest thing for me. See it’s easy for me to incorporate a new habit, such as exercising into my day, but to get rid of the habit of eating bad food is really tough. I like a lot of healthy foods, but it’s just so much easier to grab a bag of chips or a hamburger from McDonald’s to eat. And chocolate is my weakness! Ugh! I LOVE Hershey’s and Forrero Rocher! I know completely avoiding them isn’t the way to do it, but I’m the type that if I take one bite, I have to eat the whole thing. So I think in my case, cutting them out completely, at least for long enough to get the urge under control is best for me. And hey I did it with sodas, I used to drink 6 or 7 cans a day, so this shouldn’t be too much harder.

The Evian pub was fantastic. Wish adult people can be able to be so proactiv. This is the first time i see the commercial, and frankly as a drinker of water during every meal i recommend people to drink more water for the enormous benefits that liquid has.
The second video was very interesting and informativ. In fact, i didn’t know about the virtue of Ginger to treat nausea, neitheir the relationship between what we’re eating and the health of our skin. I understand now why famous people always have a nutritionist in their staff. I really enjoy the videos.

In my opinion one can’t eat too much veggies especially fresh.
How many pounds of vegetables can a person eat a day? There’s a limit right? It’s the added butter, salt, dips or other sauces that need to be limited or avoid.
To save time you can buy the already cut up veggie trays or bagged baby carrots. They are more expensive but you more likely to get your veggies in.

Reply

aak2 May 26, 2011 at 8:59 pm

I know I like to dip my carrots into ranch. It is a lot easier to buy the already cut up veggie trays. I’m more likely to eat them if they are already cut up for me. It seems like the easier the food is to prepare the more likely people are to eat it. Fast food for example is already made for you. I think if I could come to healthy food that is already made I would eat it more than getting fast food all the time.

My wife and I find it easier to make a meal plan for the week (you don’t get home and figure out what’s for dinner), make a shoping list specific to the meals (you’ll also save money this way because you don’t buy a bunch of stuff you really don’t need), and do the prep work for as many meals as possible in one day. I’ll chop onions, slice carrots, divide up meat into portions, anything that can be done beforehand. Then, when it comes time to prepare the meal, you just put everything together. In many instances, I can cook an entire meal in less time than it would take a person to stand in line and place an order at a burger joint.

SMH May 31, 2011 at 7:29 pm

I also try and plan my meals for the week when I do my grocery shopping. I do save money and tend to eat a little healthier since I am not just picking up anything that looks good. Sticking to the list keeps me from picking up junk food and prevents unhealthy snacking during the day. (For me anyways)

JM2 May 24, 2011 at 8:16 pm

The first video was awesome. Nothing better than a gang of babies rockin’ out on roller skates to the Sugarhill Gang!! I cut out soda a few years ago and drink water 95% of the time. I guess tap water doesn’t have the same effect as Evion because if I tried any of those stunts on skates I’d break a hip.

The second video was informative and I’m glad I enjoy eating an assortment of the things on the list. My wife and I mix some of those things together for an even better taste. Fresh garlic, olive oil, and broccoli baked in the oven is the bomb. Try it, it tastes great and it will keep the vampires away!

What a great list of foods that are healthy for our body and skin. I agree with the comment that Michelle says at the beginning of the video that you must have health inside your body before you can have health outside of your body (ie. healthy skin). It makes perfectly good sense that in order to have healthy, vibrant skin that one would need to have good internal health. Most people think that the only way to have beautiful skin is to use expensive cleansing products. While it does help to have a cleansing regimen, it is just as important to eat healthy. I have noticed a difference in the health of my skin just by consuming more water, fruits and veggies.

Hi HMH2, you said exactly what i always think. A healthy skin and body it is a combination of what you eat when you eat how you eat and some exercice. I am always wondering when someone complains about his or her weight, health without conforming that with their eat habits. As a drinker of water during my meals, i know exactly what benefit this has on my life. When i tell people my age, they are always surprise how younger i look. My little secret is that i never drink soda, never eat fast food and exercice four times a week. A combination of that brings you a health and vibrant skin as you putted it.

The Evian roller babies were pretty cute. I have never seen this commericial before on tv. The Healthy foods = beautiful skin video was very interesting. I wonder how much of these foods in a day or week should you consume them. What are the portions? Or should you just incorportate this into your diet? I found the number of foods astonishing. I am such a picky eater, I wish I liked more of these foods. I had no idea olive oil was so good for your skin.

aak2 May 24, 2011 at 12:09 pm

I can definatley tell a difference in my skin when I am eating fast food a lot and when i’m not. I break out so bad when I eat out. Me and my family are on the go so much it’s just easier to grab fast food on the way home at the end of the day instead of coming home and cooking and dealing with dishes and all that. I know now though, when I do go out to eat to order brown rice instead of white rice. I do like broccoli and glad to know that I am eating one right thing 🙂

one of my The best super foods were a very informative video. I was actually talking about the olive oil with instructors this morning. I have a bad habit of seeing oils as bad but this is wrong thinking on my part. There is good fat and bad fat and olive oil has good fat in it. Also with the rice I have turned my nose up at any of it. I know I should be eating grains but somewhere somebody has planted into my head that rice and pasta was bad. Did you know there was black rice too? I don’t drink milk so the video really helped me realize that I may need to eat more broccoli to get some calcium. Dairy and I don’t do well together. I do drink the coconut milk made by Silk and it is really good but I do need to check and see if it is fortified. Did anyone notice how yummy this video made everything look?? I was not hungry until I watch it! God bless!!!

I used to buy 2% as well, but then I started to get skim milk. Since I only use milk for cereal it wasn’t such a big change for me. I don’t drink milk very often and I guess the wateriness of it goes well with me drinking water all the time 🙂

Veggies are more difficult for me to get used to eating as well. I try to use them in cooking rather than eating them raw. If you like fajitas, then fry up some veggies and put them in a tortillas. It’s easier for me to eat them that way.

I Think that healthy living really takes some effort On the list above, I do regularly eat all of them. When I was pregnant with our twins I was so nauseated. There was a lady with Cancer that suggested I try Ginger Candy….Real, spicy, ginger candy. She bought it and carried it at her little store. I truly helped. I did not ever have heartburn either.

My kids prefer yogurt and fruit to just about anything else. It can be done, eating healthy, drinking water, but like anything else, it takes 45 days to create a new habit, good or bad. Little changes can make great differences.

I have been arguing with my boyfriend for some time now about milk, as stupid as that sounds. I have grown up drinking 2% milk, and he has grown up drinking whole milk. When we go down the milk isle, its always a fight, but now I’m going to tell him that I’m right.

Reply

JM2 May 24, 2011 at 8:21 pm

I’d say drop the 2% and go for the skim. I grew up on whole milk but once I made the switch to skim 20 years ago I never looked back. It’s a little hard at first but once you get used to it you won’t be able to drink any other percent of milk. Whole milk is so thick to me now it disgusts me to even think of swallowing it.

Reply

Taylor B August 25, 2010 at 10:35 pm

I’ve never had any Evian water, but I sure would get some if it made me dance like that!

As for the Super Foods, I don’t have any of these in my kitchen right now. I don’t think I can even consider giving up my 2% milk. I’ve tried Skim milk before and it’s like drinking “white-colored water.” Don’t think I can make that change.

I really liked the first video about the water. It was really cute. I do not have a big problem with drinking water. I probably drink right amount of water a day. I will occasionally drink cokes, but not very ofton. I love water, so that is usually all I drink. The second video really hit home for me. I have a hard time when it comes to eating fast food. I am always do something, so its so much easier to stop and get something, but I have been trying to cook dinner more often so that should help me cut out some of the fast food.

The Super Foods was very informative to hear about what kind of foods can make a difference on your organs and help fight off dieases. I never knew olive oil can help prevent heart diease. Or soy foods can help prevent cancers. It gives you a better understanding of food is not just all about the taste. Its about the control/ future of your body. I never knew broccoli can make up for not drinking milk. With all these suggestions under my belt I’m really going to start thinking about how food affects my life.

I am in my mid-30’s so bring on the mineral water. I am open to new foods and I was a cook in the military for a few years so I love a lot of different meats and vegetables. It is amazing though that even when we eat healthy if we don’t use the good energy it will be stored as fat. So be active with your good eating habits.

It is not realistic to expect healthy eating all the time. I think if we can eat healthy 75-90% of the time we are doing well. Of course if one has a medical condition such as high blood pressure one should be very careful about salting foods. There is always a healthier choice to make even at fast food joints.

I also learned that there is more to foods than meets the eyes or even the taste buds, it is not all just about vitamine content, different foods perform different jobs for particular parts of the body. Yes, I learned about this when one of my daughters was pregnant and extremely sick continuously. Her doctor gave her prescription medicine for the nausea, but it litterally knocked her out all day! I can tell a taste difference in 1% and 2% milk. Guess that’s because I grew up drinking 2%–thinking it was better for me than whole milk. Now, I guess I’ll give 1% milk another try.
