Like the other videos that we have seen that show exactly what is happening in a specific process, the cancer one delivered as well. Seeing exactly what is happening inside the body and how, why, and where cancer spreads, is so much more clear to me now. Good video.
The next 2 videos ties in with the whole class. The bottom line is if you eat the correct foods your body will naturally fight off so many bad diseases and cancers. The message throughout the course has been loud and clear. Diet means everything for our health.

I couldn’t have said it better myself… It all comes back to our diet. If we are eating healthy vitamin rich foods and skipping out on all the fatty, greasy, processed foods, our chances of getting one of these dreaded diseases is decreased substantially. I think we all should come back to these videos and watch them again on a regular basis b/c this has just motivated me to get back on track with my daily nutrition. After awhile, we all seem to forget how unbelievably important our daily diet is for our health. And when we are reminded of all the horrible painful diseases that we can get when we don’t eat right, changing our diet doesn’t seem that difficult anymore….

“it all comes back to our diet” So accurate! I agree with evertyhting that was said on these comments!

Yes I never thought that someones diet would cause cancer, but it is interesting to know things to help prevent it.

my nana took the saying an apple a day keeps the doctors away way to extreme when I was young. she applied it to everything. she would tell me what all the vegetables did for your body and fruit as well. she was strict on them vitamins too. her mom died from cancer and she swore she would try her best to stay healthy and try to not get it. so far so good. she is healthy as can be at her age.

You had a good nana. I’m sure her nutritional habits have taken you a long way and kept you pretty healthy.

kfleming November 8, 2022 at 10:06 pm

Your grandma did a great job by being like that. I wish my family would have been like that. I definitely needed to eat more fruits and veggies when I was younger. It definitely makes a difference eating healthier.

Our nutrition aids in illnesses so it should also be able to prevent illnesses depending on the right things consumed.

SRogers April 7, 2018 at 6:19 pm

I agree. most people are healthier if they eat a healthy diet. Also, the foods that people consume help in providing part of the vitamins that they need. However, when people only eat a bad diet, they miss out on the vitamins in their food that help stop many diseases.

aperet1 April 10, 2018 at 12:13 am

A healthy diet is very crucial but things such as pollution and all play a role too so it can’t necessarily cure everything, but I see where you are going haha!

eljaye28 April 4, 2022 at 3:39 pm

A healthy diet may or may not be a cure all but it does help. If there’s a background of cancer in your family and you can eat health and still get cancer, but a healthy diet can eliminate some from getting cancer.

I know i agree it is so crazy to think about the foods that are popular. Most of the foods are so unhealthy but are easily accessible. Diet is the most important thing to maintaining a healthy life yet the media and big corporations advertise, produce, and sell so many things that steer people away from a healthy lifestyle weather it be food or just products that are toxic to our system.

Reply

dahlke11 April 4, 2016 at 8:18 pm

Our biggest problem is in fact that the foods that are so accessible are the worst for us. This includes mainly junk foods, that I enjoy the most. I agree diet is the most important thing to maintaining a healthy life style we just have to watch what we eat.

Ashleigh W. July 15, 2016 at 8:23 pm

Its sad that a healthy lifestyle is not advertised the same way a big mac is.

Sydney Nichole July 19, 2016 at 9:47 pm

I don’t understand why eating healthy hits the pocketbooks much more than eating unhealthy. Fruits, vegetables, and salads are much more expensive than a bag of potato chips or a quarter pounder and fries.

abrewer2016 November 8, 2016 at 11:12 am

The prices of things is a big issue. Salads cost way more than a cheeseburger does. So it makes it more affordable to just go buy a cheese burger instead of a salad. It’s really sad. To bad they don’t make healthier food more affordable.

EPUGH November 2, 2016 at 4:15 pm

It is all about money and convenience… It is cheaper to create boxed, frozen, and processed food in bulk. Fresh food spoils faster and takes more work to manage. It is horrible. I wish they could not create that stuff but I am sure more people would starve and food supply would be low.

Reply

afriedl November 2, 2016 at 6:54 pm

I will be forever baffled by the fact that it is cheaper to eat chemicals than natural foods.

Jgaines November 3, 2016 at 12:40 am

Yes. It is hard trying to eat healthy because it is so expensive. Buying a salad from a fast food place rather than a burger is going to be at least $2 dollars more. Everything healthy is more expensive and I do not understand why either.

I thought the video of how the cells in our body divide was very interesting. I had no idea that green tea helps prevent cancer, along with fruits and vegetables and whole grains. I don’t like fish, so eating it twice a week is out for me. I wish I liked it better, since one of the videos said that it reduces the risk of cancer by 30-50%. I have never thought of an apple with the skin being a preventative for cancer. I will definitely start buying more apples to snack on now. I didn’t realize how bad red meat is for you, until I started watching these videos. I used to just eat chicken and turkey, until I met my husband. Now I also eat hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, fried shrimp, some tuna, and bacon. I think I was better off just eating chicken and turkey.

I THOUGHT THAT TO BE INTERESTING BECAUSE THAT THE BIGGEST WAY CHILDREN AND INFANTS ARE EXPOSED TO IT. WE THINK THAT NOT SMOKING AROUND THEM WILL HELP THEM BUT THEY CAN ABSORB THE TOXINS FROM THE SMOKE THROUGH OUR CLOTHES.

There are tests that you can get now that can tell you if you are carrying the gene for certain types of cancer… I know they have the test for breast cancer. If you test negative, that doesn’t mean that you wont get breast cancer, but if you test positive then you more than likely get it. I think the test is a good thing. Alot of women are deciding to get breast removal and implants when they learn they test positive. If they do that, then they will know for sure they wont get it.

It is interesting to me that cancer can be passed through generations. I truly believe some of the cancer causes are the food we buy at the stores. Who knows how it is treated, what is fed to the animals, and the chemicals they use to treat the animals and vegetation scares me.

Ashleigh W. July 15, 2016 at 8:24 pm

Yes, me to! We don’t know what we are eating. There are so many meats being pumped with hormones and our veggies are being wiped down with pesticides, its scary.

MRC2 July 12, 2011 at 2:51 pm

Once again, these videos were very informative. I really want to grow myself a garden so I can have all the fresh vegetables I want and with no contaminates. Just another reason to believe what God made is better for us than what man has made. Are you beginning to see the picture more clear people? When people start messing with something that is already perfect, bad things happen. Look at all the benefits of natural foods. Americans are desensitizing their taste buds to the over powering tastes of man-made food items. This makes really good foods taste bland. I am going to go eat an apple right now.

Much of what we are learning seems to have a theme that if you eat lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains then you will have better health, wellness, and possibly longevity. I have been a vegetarian for about five years and it was one of the best decisions that I made for my health and happiness. I’ve learned to become a more creative cook and I’m not limited to meat and potatoes. Now, it’s good to know that this lifestyle decision may even help prevent cancer.

I am glad being a vegetarian is working out really well for you. I am closer to a vegetarian now then I have ever thought I would be. I do love my meat but it is only stuff like fish and egg whites. I like chicken but it has become less appealing to me. Especially after watching the movie Food Inc. If you have not watched it then you really need to. That goes out to everyone. People are so blind from how and where our food comes from. No wonder there are so many cancer cases. People you need to get informed. Start buying organic. Yes, I know it is more pricey but is your life and your child’s life not worth those few extra pennies?

Being a vegetarian has it’s benefits. But I don’t know how you can stand to be around a steak cooking on a grille and not go insane knowing you won’t be able to eat any of it. I’m all for eating healthy, especially after this class. My wife and I have modified a lot. But you can have meat in moderation and be perfectly fine. You only live once and who wants to live to 100 if you didn’t enjoy the ride. I’m glad it’s working out for you but I’ll continue to indulge in a moderate way.

The drink green tea is not one of my favorites but when you hear that the place where it is most harvested is the lowest cancer in the world it makes you want to drink it all the time. The 3rd video shows what we should and shouldn’t eat to fight cancer. A good way to do that is to eat lots of fruits, vegtables, and fiber. Brocoili, genger, fish, and blackberries are all leading foods. I really enjoyed seeing how the cancer cells grow in the first video. I liked how the other videos taked about the things we should and should not be eating. I try to be a healthy person, but it is really hard to turn down foods that I love because they are not good for me. It is really something that I need to work on.

As always a healty diet and good nutrition is always the key to staying healthy i have tried a glutin free diet but i could not do it. It takes alot of will power to stick with a healthy diet, to prevent cancer or any diease for that matter, if you can or are trying to more power to you.

I like how the first video was done. It was interesting to see how cancer formed then how it formed secondary cancers that was distributed in the blood stream to other parts of a body.

Increasing you chances of avoiding cancer can be as easy as going to your local grocery store. There are so many choices that are absoloutly delicious! πŸ™‚

Good nutrition is a vital must to building a healthy gutt. Fruits and vegetables are the best. Fiber is another good thing to consume in moderation and helps in weight loss as well because it helps you to feel full longer in-between meals.

I hate water…. having grown up without it I have not aquired a taste for it, I try to dring some water every day but it is a challenge.

I enjoyed all of these videos especially the first, which really helped explain the formation and growth of cancer, as well as the second, which gave great advise on what to eat to help prevent cancer. I learned a few new things from the second video such as that broccoli is a very important food because it contains isothiocyanate and folate, both of which have been proven successful in helping prevent cancer. Luckily for me I love broccoli! πŸ™‚ I also learned that Japan has the lowest cancer rate due to the widespread consumption of green tea which has made me decide that I am going to try to start drinking green tea, even though I’m not crazy about the taste.

I liked the second video the best because it listed foods that we should eat to prevent cancer. And its really crazy how women in general don’t take in enough calcium in a day and with that being said we need to take supplements.

i totally agree with these videos.cancer has alot to do with what we put in the body.nowadays almost every affordable foods out there in the markets has chemicals added in them.if it can change foods from their natural state, then there is a very high probability that it might cause the same or similar changes in the human body.organic foods are best but they are more expenssive.it is worth the sacrifice if one has to cut down some of the risks of getting cancer.

I absolutely loved all the videos. It has always been a passion to eat what the lord gave us. And very little man mad products. The videos show that eating the rainbow can have significant health benefits.
I love garlic and ginger, I have not tried turmeric mostly because i don’t know what to use it on. I already eat most of the things listed with the exceptions of an apple a day and berries. Will have to try and incorporate these in the diet.

cinnimon and fruits would be my favorite things listed to eat that helps prevent cancer and most of the vegetables that was listed I don’t like.

These videos were extremely informative. I have had two grandparents on both my mom and dads side that have passed away from cancer. I like and already eat a lot of the foods that were mentioned. I am going to continue to incorporate healthy things in my diet.

The first video- This was an over view of what I already knew but, I really liked the 3-D images showing how the cancer cell growns. I never really knew that the nucleus really determined if the cell lives or dies. Cancer cells can form to damage to genes, genetics, and other leading factors. The second video- It showed what foods we should eat to prevent cancer cells. Like berries, spices, green tea, and apples. I never knew that Japan has the lowest rate due to their green tea growth. Green Tea increases cancer fighting oxidants. The third video- shows what we should and shouldn’t eat to fight cancer. A good way to do that is to eat lots of fruits, vegtables, and fiber. Brocoili, genger, fish, and blackberries are all leading foods. I like the idea of a “Gut Friendly Diet.” I’m going to try some of these methods out.

It is amazing how cancer cells grow and spread. Cancer cell grow at such a fast rate..its unbelievable. It interesting that certain foods can prevent cancers. Broccoli ,certain berries, spices, nut, and fruit!! Its very interesting how food can be harmful and helpful to our bodies.

I agree, it is ironic that pretty much everything we eat is either going to make us or break us. I have learned a lot about a few foods from the essay assignment. It is scary thinking about all the different diseases and what is going to work for our own body.

thats true, but it is the food choices we make that determines if they are harmful to our body or not.i believe if we spend money on healthy foods, then we will spend less on health.thats will be a lot of savings!

WHEN WE CHOOSE TO EAT PEOPLE DON`T REALIZE WHAT COULD BE HURTING THEM. YES I THINK IN THE LONG RUN YOUR SAVE MONEY IF YOU EAT HEALTHLY.

I knew that certain foods and preparation methods could contribute to the risk of cancer, but I did not know that there were foods that could help prevent cancer. Certain berries, watercress, spices and sources of isothiocyanate, like brocolli, are known preventitives.

Food (nutrition) is linked to everything! Good health Bad health. How and what you eat is a dirrect reflection, in my mind, of how healthy you are. Isn’t it wonderful to see that we can be our own healers through eating super foods.

All these videos were informative on how eating right is the best way to stay healthy and avoiding any kind of diseases such as, cancer. Watching theses videos i learned that there are so many different vitamins in so many different foods such as, broccoli, and nuts. Giving a list of what is good and not good for you is perfect for a person to get the right foods for a good and healthy meal.

I agree, eating right and natural is the key. I also know just saying do it solves nothing. Teach the proper foods to eat. Lists for this or that is a good learning tool.

We live in such a fast paced world that sometimes we don’t have time to even make the healthy choice as opposed to the most timely choice.

I agree these videos were very informational. I didnt realize that i already ate alot of the foods listed and had no idea that they could help prevent cancer. I have lost both of my parents to cancer and i try to do everything i can to prevent that from happening to me.

I love broccoli and will be eating more of it, along with macadamia nuts, yummy. I like how the third video gave lists of what we should and shouldn’t eat although, I have learned that from the nutrition class itself.

It is interesting that they mentioned broccoli. Some say that it’s a hybrid and aides in cancer. Learning more about foods and how cancer impacts the body could start turning some diagnosis’s around.
