Video one was full of information. I think it may be the most straight to the point, informative video we have seen. It described very clearly and simply anything that might go wrong with your kidney. When he was talking about who needs to get checked I realized I haven’t had mind checked in years. I will be setting up an appointment for blood work.
Colored soda… wow. There really isn’t one good thing about them and I’m so glad I switched to water only 3-4 years ago.

Kidney are definitively one of the important organ to preserve in human body. The combination of Hypertension and Diabete are the worse enemies of kidney disease. Interesting to know that kidney disease can be controlled , prevented and even cured by simple things as knowing his blood pressure, consume less cholesterol , and sugar. Colored drinks have to be avoided also to prevent kidney disease.

It was interesting to learn about hypertension an diabetes effecting the kidneys. Everyone knows those things play havoc with the heart but the kidneys don’t often get mentioned. All three of these videos had great info.

Yeah it definitely stinks.I have type I diabetes and often struggle with it quite a bit. IT is scary at times about your kidney shutting down on you so I just try my best to taKe care of myself.

Jicaldw October 11, 2019 at 11:21 pm

Please please please take good care of yourself. I have a cousin who is going through having bad kidney and its very detrimental.

I have finally quit drinking sodas all together. I drink water everyday and feel a lot better now that I do not drink sodas. I did not realize how big of a role the kidneys did play in your body but with these videos I can see how important they are and what they do for your body.

JM2 July 23, 2011 at 9:31 am

I also quit drinking sodas years ago. I lost like 6 pounds when I stopped. Soda is just evil in any regard.

The first video was very interesting. I had no idea that the kidneys had such an important role in the body. The filtering station, ridding the body of all the poisons and toxins.

Hi AMG , i found the first video also very important. The medical doctor went trough what one’s should know about the importance of kidney, it’s role to the body, how to prevent, and what diet to adopt. I liked the videos.

These videos were very interesting. I had no idea how common kidney disease is, or what the different types of kidney disease are. I drink a lot of soda because I don’t like drinking something that has no flavor. I guess I will start buying Crystal Light to add to my water to give it flavor, so I won’t drink so much soda in the evenings at home. I have to have one 20 oz Dt. Dr. Pepper at work in the mornings to get me so and to keep me from having a headache or being cranky. I think if I start buying Crystal Light, I could cut back to just that one soda a day.

wow. it amazes me how one little thing can be so harmful. i love me so coca-cola, but not any more. i love my water to so i guess that what is going to be on the menu for now on. i wonder if kidney infection can be called kidney disease? Diabetes runs in my family and i my aunt before she passed had to do dialysis. this video explained alot of my questions with this issue i can not stress enough to people that vitamin d is a wonderful thing and we do not consume enough a day. .

Simple things like going in for a regular check up will help you catch these different kind of diseases… Your kidneys are very important to help filter blood and keep everything balanced… Don’t want to loose them!!

I am glad that I am not a soda drinking person. I do admit that I did consume quite a bit of soda products as a teenager though. I got into the habit of drinking water when I was pregnant those four times and the habit has not left me. I do not buy soda for my children. They may think that I am not being fair but later on in life they will thank me for it. When we go out to eat I always ask for water instead of soda or tea. The kids are so well trained that they immediately tell the waiter or waitress that they want water, no questions asked. I am not surprised that dark colored soda doubles your chances for kidney problems. Just look at the stuff that’s in it.

It seems that the best liquid to drink which would be healthy is water and to completely limit soda. Since the kidneys are so important in filtering, water would be a great liquid to help flush toxins. These videos were very helpful in understanding the kidneys better.

I had an Aunt who passed away from kidney disease. I take a daily vitamin because I don’t eat alot of dairy products. I think it is time for me to have a physical because I have not been to the dr. in a long time. For a long time I would drink anywhere from 4 to 5 coke’s a day and would not drink nearly enough water. Lately dark colored soda’s have not tasted the same to me so I have been able to get away with drinking one if not any at all.

I was unaware that diabetes could result in kidney failure. I am in the sun a lot so I am getting a lot of vitamin D. So my kidney’s should be good. I love that vitamin D can keep you healthy. I drink diet pepsi and coke and pepsi all the time. I have had kidney stones before. They are awful. I do like sprite and mt. dew. Guess I could switch the avoid kidney stones and kidney disease.

Reply

RRJ July 9, 2011 at 1:34 pm

I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible. I am African-American so it takes 3 times as long for me to absorb enough vitamin D for sun exposure so I just take a supplement every day.

You really should try to cut out all those sodas completely from your diet. If you make yourself drink water and not have anything else except maybe some juice or milk, over time your body will start to crave water and you will not want to fill yourself with unnecessary substances. I want water all the time. It is the only thing that quenches my thirst and the best thing, it is free of calories! Drinking soda just makes me so thirsty now so I choose not to do that to myself. Just give it a try. Your body will thank you so much.

Reply

Jadamson April 12, 2017 at 12:42 pm

I went 3 weeks without soda, but then I caved. If I had just stuck with it I may be craving water now.

LAF2 June 29, 2011 at 11:50 pm

I cut back to one diet soda a day. I know I need to cut them out, but I have to it in the morning.

It’s very difficult for me to cut out flavored drinks as well. I don’t drink much soda anymore, but I still like juice. I’m trying to limit myself to water during the week and on Saturdays I have something other than water.

the answer is Bayer A.M. you will love them. i have been taking them for about a month now and asked my doctor before because of the aspirin and as long as you don’t have thinning blood or something to that nature you will be fine. try it out and you will be surprised. i know i was. or you can even try coffee, it will wake you up and is a natural laxative.

I need to cut them out too. But until then I think I’ll switch to the light colored sodas instead. I get headaches too. I also get very tired and mean. I can have two cokes a day and not get that way. I have to at work at 6:45 in the mornings and that is to stinking early. I don’t know if I would have the energy to do it if I did not have cokes.

Same here. I have to have at least one 20 oz Dt. Dr. Pepper each morning at work to make it all day and not have a headache or be cranky. That one soda lasts me 4-5 hours at work, but when I get home all I want is soda. I try to drink water, but I just don’t like drinking something with no flavor. I guess I will start buying crystal light to add to it, just so I won’t be drinking as much soda.

We have been told growing up all of our lives that cokes were bad for us. Ground meat is bad for us, and I could go on and on but its not what we drink so much it is about how much of it we consume. dont get me wrong, i love my diet coke and my juicy hamburgers but how long will my life last consuming those kinds of poisons in my body is what you have to ask yourself

My Grand Mother always believed that carbonated drinks were bad for your kidneys. They said dark colored soda was worse for you but, anytime I drink alot of Mt Dew I have problems. I just drink canberry juice and the symptoms of an infection goes away. Drinking sodas is another thing we must do in moderation.

Our kidneys are very important to help keep our bodies filtered. I assume I have had so many problems with mine due to my diet. I have never really ever been checked other than in the ER over Kidney Stones. I really do not ever have high blood pressure. I do not know of anyone in my family that has ever had any kidney problems. I just have to assume it’s just me. I have been tested for cholesterol but it was fine. Dialysis seems really scary and not something I would want to have to go through. It seems that if we can keep our diet and exercise under control we may be able to help prevent kidney failure. Although this video says that dark sodas increase your risk for kidney stones I was actually told that Mt. Dew (which is all I did drink) was a major contributing factor in my stones.

Kidney’s are something that the body just can not seem to be without. Thank God we have 2 of them. I know that I have had kidney infections in the past and it is a very uncomfortable and sometimes painful condition. Thank goodness something as simple as a urine/blood test, can be used to diagnoise many of the problem associated with kidney disease.

Vitamine D therapy is awesome for so many things. I know I have incorporated a good measure in my daily vit. intake.

When you think about the color in cola’s being a factor in increasing the chances of kidney disease it should make you think twice every time you pick up a soda. Me I like soda too much to give it up anytime soon, but I do regulate how much of it that I consume in a weeks time. This was prety informative.

So the last video gave information I had never heard before and was very shocked to learn: Dark sodas increase risk of kidney disease. I was not happy to hear this since I am a Dr. Pepper lover, but I am glad that I know now because it will definately give me some initiative to cut down on how much I drink or to at least drink something like Mountain Dew or Sprite instead since they don’t increase the risk for kidney disease.

Reply

Madge C November 30, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Sprite would be best because of the no caffine…Mountain dew has so much more sugar and caffine than DrPepper so in retrospect if it were me I would still choose DrPepper 🙂

I may be way off in left field here, but what better place to possibly get opinions or answers.
It seems to me that just about everything the FDA allows or rubber stamps, ends up being bad for us. Do they just pass it through and use us the public as guinea pigs. Then after it has done great amounts of damage they go oh it is bad for you.
I know what we physically put in our bodies is not their problem. But they should have better controls and possible read the studies. Or better yet studies need to be conducted prior to rubber stamping it.
Kidney disease is serious. Your major organs are important and everything you put in has an effect on something.

The kidneys filter out toxins for our intire body. They are vital for our life. I guess you learn something new everyday. I never knew that the color of soda played a role in the increase of kidney diease. Two or more dark colored sodas doubled the risk. Drinking clear colored sodas arent the best but they dont increase the risk of kidney diease. It crazy that diet and non-diet didnt play a factor, they still made the risk go up. Great information to tell the family because I have some family members with diabetes.

Reply

Dbeard November 9, 2010 at 4:36 pm

I heard that soda color played a role. Darker sodas are harder on the body. Cola is used to eat away battery acid and if it is that strong imagine what it does to your inside. Clear sodas are not good but they are better than colas.
