Heart disease is a very serious illness that i believe can be controlled and prevented soley by your diet. Your diet plays a very important role in your overall health. There are good cholestrol and bad cholestrol all of which can be prevented by your diet also.

i agree with you. if everyone just watches what they eat a little more closely and adding in a little more fiber than there wont be such a huge health epidemic.
I’ve been trying to put more fiber in my diet lately. It’s a little tricky but I have been able to manage.
NvrLandonApril 7, 2015 at 11:43 pm
This is very true, most people with heart disease didn’t just develop it cause of no reason. If people took care of themselves better it may make them be able to live a more healthier life.
I have to agree on your statement because I witnessed several people with heart disease.
bburksApril 11, 2017 at 5:44 pm
My grandpa has heart disease, but doesn’t think he’s unhealthy because he’s skinny. He is very wrong though. He has the body of a “healthy” person, but his insides and heart are very very unhealthy.
ssteeleJuly 19, 2017 at 1:46 pm
This is very true it takes years for your body to develop this. Healthier food options should be more affordable.
swhite1November 8, 2017 at 9:12 pm
I realize there are people that live on fixed incomes and can only afford so much on groceries which is why healthier food should be made more affordable.
LSB62April 11, 2018 at 10:45 pm
This is a daily battle for me myself, but I now know how serious it is and I;m working to start eating healthier.
MNameSeptember 23, 2020 at 1:56 pm
I agree with changing your eating and not only eating fatty processed foods will help. Some people’s heart muscles can be deformed at birth so some heart issues can’t be cured. I do believe better eating and exercise can help it though.
lbabbApril 11, 2015 at 2:22 pm
For sure. People could be a lot more healthy and maybe even cured if they would watch what they eat and when they eat it. Heart disease is very serious and people don’t realize it enough.
I believe a lot of heart disease could be prevented with healthy lifestyles however their are others that are inherited and unavoidable but manageable at times
swhite1November 8, 2017 at 9:10 pm
I couldn’t agree more. If people were more mindful about what they put into their bodies, they could rely on their bodies more and not the doctors office.
bcox2April 11, 2018 at 2:29 pm
food is such a big part of our lives and we seem to eat bad foods because we get busy with life but if we take the time to eat better we are overall better in the long run.
AbbyiroseOctober 4, 2018 at 12:20 am
So true! So many people don’t take it seriously.
sawadjiheNovember 6, 2018 at 7:59 pm
I agree with you. Most of the time people just eat what they like. They do not care about the calories of food they eat. We est Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner at the fast food restaurant. Heart disease can occur at anytime and anywhere.
laureneleslieApril 6, 2022 at 6:02 pm
I agree we have to watch what we eat and how we take care of our bodies before we are sick, because sometimes we can’t cure sickness that has been building for a lifetime.
kflemingNovember 8, 2022 at 5:32 pm
I agree with you. I don’t think people realize how serious heart disease is. Most people don’t realize how important a healthy diet is. I know now to change my diet instead of taking a medication if possible. Because some medication will do more harm than good.
tmarlinJune 29, 2015 at 3:21 pm
not necessarily I grant you it is probably the best way to lower the risk for or control heart disease but for some genetics may make medication the only way to control heart disease.
While as food contribute more to heart diseases, there are also other people who develop heart conditions due to heredity. That makes it a lot harder for them to use diet to control their heart conditions.
SarahCJuly 29, 2015 at 7:59 pm
Its all up to you and what you use to fuel your body!
Your diet plays part but also your habits and your family line. They now have tests see if you might have the genes/chromosomes for different diseases and heart disease is one of them.
I agree, the family history is always the most important role for everyone.
JPearsonApril 6, 2022 at 2:41 pm
I may need to take one of those tests, as heart disease runs ion my moms side of the family. I am more than likely at risk to inherit the heart disease myself so it is nice to know I may be able to catch it early.
Chelsea Vogel HunterFebruary 8, 2016 at 1:46 am
As diet is the key to maintain a healthy mind, body, and soul.
It is good to know that healthy eating can help prevent or control heart disease. Exercise along with healthy eating is also important. I find myself wanting to incorporate more exercise, especially since I’m learning more and more about how much it can help with so many things that can go wrong with our bodies.
vgibsonApril 6, 2016 at 6:49 pm
Amazing what you can do, for good or for bad, depending on what you put in your body. Diet and exercise…so important….
I agree. I’ve been trying to get this through my grandmas thick head for a while now. she has heart disease and stopped taking her meds. she in a home and they don’t force her to take them. if she refuses, then she refuses. which not good at all.
not all heart disease can be controlled. My dad has such a strong family history and his genes were horrible. He has severe heart disease and there is nothing that any diet can do to help him.
i believe most can be controlled by diet and exercise, but I do think there are some genetic problems, that although diet and exercise can help, the issues are still there.
I agree. A good diet can greatly lower a risk of any disease. I think that people tend to not have a good diet because of lack of information or just because they think its too confusing or difficult. I think that people that start to eat healthier with another person will probably keep a good diet for the long run.
Heart disease def can be controlled by diet and exercise as well. Sedimentary lifestyles do not aide in being healthy. The heart is a muscle and people should use it as such. It’s the only things that doesn’t sleep. That and the brain.
I have always just clumped them all together, heart attack, angina, & congestive heart failure.
My husband and I have cut a lot of bad cholesterols from our diets since I started this course. As stubborn as men are I was pleasantly surprised that he has listened to me. He and I now both take supplements of magnesium and vitamins. I have been able to get him to eat more baked meats rather than fried.
I have always lumped them all together too! They are all very different and are all very scary. I am so scared to have something wrong with my heart. That is my biggest fear.
I am right there with you. heart disease is a scary thing, especially when it runs in your family. It is very scary to feel like you have something wrong with your heart at a young age.
C-SApril 19, 2011 at 7:47 pm
My Mother in law just had a mini strke, they said her arteries were 60 pervent clogged, and that she needed to change her diet…has she? No…..SHe does not understand the significance of diet and good food choices, SHe eats vegetabels but puts a half stick of butter in the bowl……
I think that if I had a mini stroke it would scare me into eating right. Next time it could be worse. You should have her watch some of these videos. If she is anything like my dad she won’t listen. There isn’t much you can do.
I agree! If I had a stroke or heart attack I would definitely be making some life altering decisions! Sadly it may take more than that to scare her into a more healthy lifestyle.
Most people don’t make the change and wished they had when it’s too late. My dad gets so mad at me when I give him a scary scenario of what COULD happen and what I’ve seen happen in people his age. People have to WANT to change their lifestyle.
ppendergrassJune 22, 2016 at 9:37 am
It serious will help if she changes her diet, and exercise regularly.
It is crazy how something as life-changing as a stroke could happen and people not be phased by it. Some people are just so stuck in their eating habits that they do not realize that is the reason why they are having so many health conditions.
Although I would like to believe that making the wrong food choices doesn’t effect your health, I can not. Eating unhealthy causes you to be unhealthy. I so need to change my eating habits, even if just to make my heart happy :).
I agree what we eat plays are large part in our health and the years of life we have.
Allie_BNovember 29, 2015 at 3:22 pm
Eating habits plays a big part in your overall health. During this time of year is really tough! All the holiday sweets! You can have a bite or two but don’t over do it. Your heart with thank you and so will your body!!
Eating right can provide you a healthy lifestyle. Everyone has a habit that can be broken. Food is a hard one for me as well because I love certain meals which is not good for us.
The heart like the liver should be taken care of throughout your life. When you are young is best time to start taking care of your heart and not wait until something is wrong to start a change in diet. We should have a heart healthy lifestyle, knowing we can’t live without our heart.
I tell my husband all the time he needs to watch what he eats, change his diet, etc. because of the history of heart disease in his family. His father had his first heart attack at age 43; that’s only 3 years older than my husband is right now. It scares me because he doesn’t heed my advise, so I make sure he gets good thorough check-ups annually.
Yes, men are stubborn in that way. I’m surprised you can get him to the doctor. I have an uncle who refuses to have his heart checked inspite of the constant pain he endures.
I am in agreement that we cause ourselves some health problems. With today’s busy lifestyle, it is much easier to run through a fast food resteraunt. Very seldom do we eat good nutritous meals. Since we are so busy, we don’t have time for exercise either. A combination of a poor diet and no exercise leads to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart diseases. All of this, we do to ourselves.
This is why we just have to take the time to make the meal and be more conscious of what we put into our bodies. This will help us live a life that we can be proud of and know that if anything happens to us that we did the best we could.
From watching these videos it is really clear that we create our own health problems the majority of the time. It is too easy to eat at the drive thru window. We are all so busy that we are literally killing ourselves sooner than we need too. It is easy to say you want to change and have a healthier lifestyle. I have been on both sides of the fat and skinny and now I’m back to fat and losing weight and trying to eat healthier. I always feel better when I exercise and eat better but we are built more complex than that. This world had created a monster with all the wonderful foods so readily available to us all the time.
I agree with your comments. By making daily decisions on healthy food choices, exercising, & cutting back on fast foods, I am making decisions myself to prevent problems when I am older.
these videos help you to understand the different diseases that can harm your heart and like that one video said the more you understand the disease the easier it is to prevent it.
Yes these videos do help you to understand the different diseases, and I completely agree the more you understand the disease the easier it is to prevent. Learning about these different diseases, is helping me to understand how I can help my parents with their heart related diseases.
Every time that my grandmother gets an illness she immediatly gets sent to the heart hospital. Her arteries get clogged so easily. She has had four triple bypass surgeries and stints put in. It is amazing how eating healthier can really change a persons life expectancy.
Amazing videos.Cholesterol and heart diesease is one of the major causes of death in the world today. As a nurse i cannot begin to explain how important it is to watch the amount of cholesterol one puts in thier foods and how important daily exercise is.If we can just resort to better eating habits, daily exercise and anual yearly checkup,we should be able to prevent heart diseases or atleast catch it early on before it causes too much damage.
EA
in this fast pace lifestyle that we all live it is so very hard to get the proper exercise. It is so very important to eat healthy for our heart, our arteries and for our sugar and our major organs of the body. CAD is a very serious thing, the arteries must stay cleared in order for the heart to work properly.
great video, in jan 2011 my mother had a triple bypass and she had no idea she even had a heart problem because she was being treated for reflux. She was transfered from one hospital to the next and within thirty mins she died and they brought her back, surgeon talked to us and said her arteries were so clogged. It is all about what we eat is what we are and sometimes we dont even know how our health is.
JR- I agree we must watch what we eat and also go every six months when we get past 40 yrs old for a routine check up and some blood work. Blood work speaks for a lot of things that goes on in our bodies
very interesting videos. Eating healthy and exercise is a great way to keep the heart healthy, but sometimes that is not enough. We also need to pay close attention to cholesterol, especially the hdl levels!!
This is true our LDL(bad) could be high or our HDL(Good)be low and not even know it. That is why when a person has a chance for a free screening at a Health Fair they should take advantage of testing for cholestrol and diabetes.
I have studied the heart before, but I find it very interesting. Heart attachs are very bad, but i think that the way the work is so amazing. The human body just fasinates me. It is so complex, but if even one part is not working right it could throw off everything else. That is just so fasinating!
This nutrition class has opened my eyes greatly on how what we put into our bodies can effect the number of years in our lives. I think everyone should be requierd to takes a class like this. I will make them realize what the world is coming to when we pay a dollar for a cheeseburger. They will realize they are paying a dollar each time to make a step closer to heart disease.
Hypertension runs in my family bad. I never add salts to my diets and I never add seasonings to my food while I am cooking. I do have to stay on my husband about adding seasonings though. He thinks you are supposed to put them on everything.
We cause alot of our own health problems, I know I do. Cholestrol is a very big deal I am young right now but one day it will not be so easy to avoid cholestrol.I am going to strat watching my cholestrol level more and see if it changes how i feel at all.
The first video was a nice review of how the heart works as well as very informative about the different syptoms of heart disease such as angina and heart attacks which are both caused by build up of plaque on coronary artery walls. I already had a basic understanding of heart disease because my papa has had several surgeries due to plaque build up one of which was a triple bypass.
Vegetables and fruits are also low in calories and rich in dietary fiber. Vegetables and fruits contain substances found in plants that may help prevent cardiovascular disease.

I dont like to eat out that much because I like to cook my own meals because I dont normally add salt to anything I cook. But sometimes we do eat out or I might just crave some fries with salt on them which I know is not good. Also I love to eat fruits and vegetables and do as often as possible. The exercise thing is something that gets me. I dont normally do very much exercising even though I should.
The videos are very neat. Learning all about the heart is so interesting to me. Having hypertension myself it is very impotant for me to keep my diet very simple and salt free. So keeping my heart healthy is my number one concern.
The videos are very neat. Learning all about the heart is so interesting to me. Having hypertension myself it is very impotant for me to keep my diet very simple and salt free.
I am now sitting for an elderly lady that had angina and did not know it, she was so lucky that when she went for a check up, the doctor found the problem….she had to have surgery that same day, she just expierenced very mild discomfore every now and then, and ended uo haveing a double by-pass surgery to fix the problem. I love how intricate the heart is and how it pumps like a piece of machinery but like machines it to needs to be taken care of.
My cholestorol is 210 which is 10 points over the acceptible level. My doctor has me on a fat restricted diet and doing exercise as well. It is so true “junk in –junk out” I try to eat less meats and have given up my favorite food…potato chips. Though to be honest I do give myself a treat of them from time to time. In my job I am not sure that I am burning as many calories that I take in. I need to do a food diary I guess and see where I am in need of better discipline. I have been lucky that the problem is not so bad as to have to take meds for them. I like the idea of the 7 ing. issue on food labels.
50 million people is a very large number of people to be suffering from this one problem. Salt is the number 1 enemy to every one of us! Label reading is very important, it is through reading these labels that we can put ourselves back on to the road to a healthier way of living. Our book recomends the DASH diet and in doing some research I am finding that there is a simmilar diet called the Medaterian diet that works well for Hypertension.
Love the 7 ingredient thing. That sure beats trying to figure out what all that is. It seems like every time i try to shop, I get so frustrated trying to read the labels. Now there is a solution. I really try to watch what i eat. I am one of those people who hates red meat, does not care for fried foods and my body craves fruits not to mention if I could live on sushi i would.
Nearly everything in the store has partially hydrogenated content. The best thing to do is Eat fresh.
Its hard to get away from good food but I have managed to change my eating habits drastically. I don’t pay atttention to ingredience because some of the things I have no idea with it is. You can’t go wrong with fruit, raw vegetables, and grain bars. All of those items are easy for me to work off.
The Doctor in the second video said that if your’re food labels list more than seven ingredients then it is not good. I took a quick look at a few items in my kitchen and found that partially hydrogenated vegetable oils were in my oatmeal, partially hydrogenated soybean oils were in my whole grain hamburger helper meals, and hydrogenated soybean AND/OR palm oil were in wheat tortilla wraps. Of everything I looked at, my little container of pimento cheese spread, contained the most ingredients including, again, partially hydrogenated soybean oils. I started buying more wheat products because of the good things but I guess you can’t win for losing. I’m still going to buy the stuff though..it is still good. I’m just going to moderate it a little better. Considering I have a cabinet full of hamburger helper..
My family consist of five people. We all are somewhere doing something and, we never slow down or catch a break. Either we stop somewhere fast or we just take responsibilty for our own meal, when we get home. For America, there arent just enough hours in a day for our busy, fast pace life.
I always knew fast food was bad for us but, I never knew how much it played a toll. Even though, I dont eat healthy all the time I never smoke or drink. I neveer knew that a heart attack is caused by blockages in coronary arteries. With less than seven ingrediants to a nutrition label, veggies, fruits, a balanced meal and, exercise we could maintain stability for our health.
I agree that if America stops eating bad and works out that we could really change our lives. But its always easier said than done.
See that is where I think we could all agree. Its ALWAYS easier said that done. That pertains exactly to with what I mentioned. I bought that stuff for the good and then found out that it contained some of the worst. Well it is definitely certain that none of us have too much room for error. And I think for the things like cheese and milk. They sure are expensive to be so bad.
I know what you mean about there isnt enough hours in the day. I work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and then to come home and do homework, take care of the house its like I never get a day off. So sometimes it is a fix your own meal night or go get something night. I just wish I had the time to cook everynight but its so hard with busy lives.
DbeardNovember 9, 2010 at 4:33 pm
After watching the videos it is clear that often times we create our own health problems. My daughter and I eat out at least 3 times a week. Which may not be a good idea. I workout at least 2 a week which is helpful. I didnt know liver stored chlorestol
Yes I also did not know that liver stored cholesterol. These videos were very informative and it is really kinda scary what the junk that we put in our bodies does once its in there.
given the busy schedule i have,i always use one day off to cook a variety of foods for the entire week and store in the refrigerator.cooking and eating at home is one thing i could be proud of.i am glad i dont have a very huge appetite for all the fast foods out there.eating your own home cooked foods is a giant step towards a healthy life.because you at least have an idea of what you are eating.
I didn’t know that the liver produced cholesterol, nor did i know that the excess was stored as plaque in the arteries. I though plaque was just a tooth thing. My dad has been recently put on cholesterol medication after trying to eat healthier and exercise more. The second video was helpful in my understanding about which foods to avoid, and which foods to eat more of while watching cholesterol. My mom has hypertension, so the last video was also useful. I need to let her know about the DASH diet.
I have several family members with hypertension, including myself. I wish they would watch these videos so they would know what they are risking by not watching their diets and not exercising, especially my mom.
I didn’t realize that fiber was a way to control my LDL level. I had not ever been told that just that I needed to lower my cholesterol.
My boyfriend’s dad has hypertension, He needs to watch this. He eats salt on everything and then wonders why he can’t get his blood pressure under control. pretty sure he’s gonna watch this tonight!
It is true we are a society of fast food. As americans I think we could all use a little less sodium. We all take in so much more than are needed daily amounts. But fast food is cheap, good, filling, and quick, and thats what we all like and how we live.
the idea about fast food being quick, i agree.but fast food is not as cheap as u think.just try to buy and cook your own food, then see how much you save.if at all fast food is as cheap as u think, then there is no doubt its junk.
I WISH THAT MY HUSBAND WOULD TAKE WHAT I AM SAYING SERIOUSLY. HE IS AFRICAN AMERICAN AND THIS IS ONE OF THE LEADING KILLERS OF HIS RACE. I HAVE EXPLAINED IT TO HIM AND EVEN SHOWED HIM THE VIDEOS BUT HE STILL INSIST ON EATING HIS FRIED GREASY FOODS THE GREASIER THE BETTER. HE DOESN’T EXERCISE UNLESS YOU PLAYING THE PS3 FOR COUNTLESS HOURS FALLS UNDER THAT CATEGORY. AS FOR THE REST OF THE FAMILY I HAVE MADE IT A POINT TO CHANGE OUT DIET. THIS CLASS HAS MADE A LIFE STYLE CHANGE FOR US.
My dad has high cholesterol I didn’t know he was at risk for so many things I know he has been prescribed Vytorin and he watches what he eats and here lately he has had a Dr.’s visit and his cholesterol has lowered dramatically. Looking at this video, I see the things he had had eaten to cause his cholesterol to be a problem and I really need to start a healthier lifestyle with better eating habits.
You learn something new everyday, I didn’t a heart know attack was build up in your coranary arteries. I knew the heart is a very important organ I just didn’t know the cause of heart the conditions mentioned in the video.
I agree. I think these videos give everyone a good understanding about the way our diets effect each vital organ. I have really enjoyed these videos and I have learned so much!
I remember studying hyperlipidemia in A&P. It was so sad because it was mostly in children and you could literally see it outpouching in their skin. Most of them were thin so I guess that should make all of us want to lower ours. Especially since we dont have that condition.
I’m surprised that eating and exercising have such an important role in our heart health. I’ve always heard it was important but I’ve never knew what impact it actually has on the body.
I hate excercise haha. That’s my downfall but I do walk everyday. I’m also a really healthy eater. I know what it’s a hard life when you aren’t living up to your bodies potential. So many of us have fallen into that trap of eating out and doing away with excercise and it’s not a happy outcome. I’ve been really inspired by this class so far to keep up with my healthy lifestyle because i’ve seen deeper into the consequences of bad health.
I, as a heavy person, always fear blood tests…I am sure the Doc is going to say I have high cholesterol…but (knock on wood), not so far. I do watch the saturated fats but I do love all the foods that have it…cheese being the main one and butter pulling up the rear. I feel like each of the videos have the same message…exercise and watch your diet. I think one of the things that helps me is fiber and veggies and fruits. I also love nuts. These are the foods that help out my diet. I never eat fish..I need to take omega- 3 oils. The nutrition labels have become a large part of my shopping but I just eat more than I am supposed to. I love the over seven ingredients are too many on a label. Great tip.
I Don’t eat all that healthy I am trying to eat at home more.
I see how that eating out every day can do some damage.
I know that in one of the videos it said that people who drink could have one for a woman and two for a man a day, but one of the other videos we watched about the liver said that it could still hurt your body.?
I know that America is unhealthy and it’s sad. I want to excercise more and start to eat healthy.
I am trying so hard to stick to all my plans about eating right and exercise. I enjoy these videos they do make you look at things a lot different. I am trying to talk with my mother about her health she has high blood pressure and she is a smoker, I stay worried about her. We have all started trying to do better since I have started this class.
I agree totally. It is kind of depressing though. I love to eat twinkies and now everytime i go in the kitchen to get one I see that awful nutrition guide staring at me on the back of the box screaming “heart attack”.
My mother suffers from hypertension, high blood pressure, and I think that the tips given on the video would be easy for her to follow to help improve her health. I think that I also will make a few changes to my diet such as cutting back on salt and increase the fruits and vegetables in my diet to improve my health.
Taking this class has definitely made me more aware of just how much diet and nutrition choices effect our lives. The choices we make can have both positive and negative consequences to out health and it is up to us to decide which direction we will go. This video shows some of that and is a good resource for people who may not understand how making poor diet choices can cause big health consequences like heart disease.
I agree..what we do…multiple choices everyday are all an opportunity to treat ourselves well. It all comes down to balance. Time and time again…exercise, diet and moderation…why then is it so difficult for me to do it? I know better and just can not stay on track.
After having anatomy I’ve studied the heart in great detail but I’ve always thought that a heart attack was just caused in the ventricles of the heart. Now I actually now its due to blockages in the coronary arteries in stead. Also in agreement with SDH if we would just stop eating so bad and work out some many americans could drop down on the chance of heart attacks. Stop going to BK and having it our way.
A healthy diet and wellness routine is something that I need to pick up and you’re right… we could all benefit from a little less fast food and a lot more fresh fruits and vegies!
After watching the videos it is clear that often times we create our own health problems. Each day my friends and I eat out at fast food places, or between ball games late at night. It is seldom we eat a healthy meal. All of our lives are surrounded by foods that are not good for us -chips, double cheeseburgers, butter, fries… It doesn’t sound that hard to make the changes the video talks about. I am not overweight, I get a lot of exercise, and have never smoked or drank. However, the food I eat every day is not healthy. I know making the changes will not be easy.
I am trying to set aside at least an hour every day to exercise. Sometimes it is hard to do, because things have a way of coming up. But I have been trying to stick with it , and I always feel better after I exercise.
At least you can admit it. You say that you exercise. Baby steps are better than none. How about the next time you go out for fast food you order a water or cut out the soda and instead of the fries opt for a side salad. The better you eat the better you feel. Don’t you feel good after you work out? well you also feel good when you put nutritious food in your body and the body will thank you for that! Good luck with your changes.

i agree with you. if everyone just watches what they eat a little more closely and adding in a little more fiber than there wont be such a huge health epidemic.
I’ve been trying to put more fiber in my diet lately. It’s a little tricky but I have been able to manage.
This is very true, most people with heart disease didn’t just develop it cause of no reason. If people took care of themselves better it may make them be able to live a more healthier life.
I have to agree on your statement because I witnessed several people with heart disease.
My grandpa has heart disease, but doesn’t think he’s unhealthy because he’s skinny. He is very wrong though. He has the body of a “healthy” person, but his insides and heart are very very unhealthy.
This is very true it takes years for your body to develop this. Healthier food options should be more affordable.
I realize there are people that live on fixed incomes and can only afford so much on groceries which is why healthier food should be made more affordable.
This is a daily battle for me myself, but I now know how serious it is and I;m working to start eating healthier.

food is such a big part of our lives and we seem to eat bad foods because we get busy with life but if we take the time to eat better we are overall better in the long run.

I agree with you. I don’t think people realize how serious heart disease is. Most people don’t realize how important a healthy diet is. I know now to change my diet instead of taking a medication if possible. Because some medication will do more harm than good.
not necessarily I grant you it is probably the best way to lower the risk for or control heart disease but for some genetics may make medication the only way to control heart disease.

I agree, family history is one area where people are predisposed. There are many people whose family has a genetic disease.
I agree, the family history is always the most important role for everyone.
I agree, the family history is always the most important role for everyone.
I may need to take one of those tests, as heart disease runs ion my moms side of the family. I am more than likely at risk to inherit the heart disease myself so it is nice to know I may be able to catch it early.
As diet is the key to maintain a healthy mind, body, and soul.
I agree that heart disease is a very serious illness. It is good to know that it can be treated and controlled with good eating habits.
It is good to know that healthy eating can help prevent or control heart disease. Exercise along with healthy eating is also important. I find myself wanting to incorporate more exercise, especially since I’m learning more and more about how much it can help with so many things that can go wrong with our bodies.
Amazing what you can do, for good or for bad, depending on what you put in your body. Diet and exercise…so important….
I completely agree with you.
Most of today’s most prevalent diseases can be prevented solely by diet and exercise. It is amazing what exercise and a good diet can do.
I agree. I’ve been trying to get this through my grandmas thick head for a while now. she has heart disease and stopped taking her meds. she in a home and they don’t force her to take them. if she refuses, then she refuses. which not good at all.
YES! many factors play into heart disease.
I agree with you! Diet is a key factor in preventing heart disease. However, not many people take that seriously and continue to eat unhealthy.
not all heart disease can be controlled. My dad has such a strong family history and his genes were horrible. He has severe heart disease and there is nothing that any diet can do to help him.
I agree with you! Your diet is such an important role in your health!
Well said. Keeping a good cholestrol can keep your runnig alot longer.
i believe most can be controlled by diet and exercise, but I do think there are some genetic problems, that although diet and exercise can help, the issues are still there.
I agree. A good diet can greatly lower a risk of any disease. I think that people tend to not have a good diet because of lack of information or just because they think its too confusing or difficult. I think that people that start to eat healthier with another person will probably keep a good diet for the long run.
I think that way when it comes to information and what you can and can’t eat can get confusing and difficult. I should do better for myself.
I agree your diet is very important when trying to combat heart disease.
I really feel like diet is key to a healthy life for most people but not all.
Yes and it is important to know how food translate to cholesterol found in the heart.
I believe that most diseases can be controlled by your diet. You are right about knowing the difference between good and bad cholesterol.
Heart disease def can be controlled by diet and exercise as well. Sedimentary lifestyles do not aide in being healthy. The heart is a muscle and people should use it as such. It’s the only things that doesn’t sleep. That and the brain.
I totally agree. Heart disease is a very serious illness and there are so many people who have a heart condition.
It serious will help if she changes her diet, and exercise regularly.
I agree!!!
I also need to change my eating habits. I eat late and eat the wrong things. I hope one day i can find the strength to resist fried foods.

I agree what we eat plays are large part in our health and the years of life we have.
I agree.
This is true because most of the time when there is a problem with your heart or liver it cannot be reversed. So why not try and prevent it first.
Yes I agree, it is important to know how the disease works because that’s how we get to treat them!
RE
great video, in jan 2011 my mother had a triple bypass and she had no idea she even had a heart problem because she was being treated for reflux.
RE
very interesting videos.
I have blood test done twice a year to see if my LDL and HDL is normal. Being a diabetic these things are important.
I completely agree with you! Being healthy is not always enough. It may lower risks but I do not think it will completely prevent you from everything!
Most heart problems are caused by the lack of eating healthy and exercise. If I could increase both of these i could increase the health of my heart.
YES! And for most it just takes a simple change everyday.
Yea i agree the lack of knowledge about all these unhealth food is dangerous to society.
The third video reminded me to look at the label, I need to watch my salt intake.
Hypertension runs in my family bad. I never add salts to my diets and I never add seasonings to my food while I am cooking. I do have to stay on my husband about adding seasonings though. He thinks you are supposed to put them on everything.
We cause alot of our own health problems, I know I do. Cholestrol is a very big deal I am young right now but one day it will not be so easy to avoid cholestrol.I am going to strat watching my cholestrol level more and see if it changes how i feel at all.
my mom says to me all the time…god only gave you one body and it’s your responsibility to take care of it because it’s the only one you have.
I liked the first video too.
Eating out is so much easier and faster than cooking, that is one of my problems.
The videos are very neat. Learning all about the heart is so interesting to me. Having hypertension myself it is very impotant for me to keep my diet very simple and salt free. So keeping my heart healthy is my number one concern.
Yes, I have high blood pressure that runs in the family too, so its important that I start eating more heart healthy soon.
Half of my family has been diagnosed with hypertension. Especially my mother and her side of the family. They all watch their salt intake.
Yes exactl. Doiung admission and discharge orders, they list chest pain (angina) as a disease everyday. To here it is just a symptom is new to me.
I’ve always heard it was important but I’ve never knew what impact it actually has on the body.
me too. I knew that it could help, I just didn’t know it could help that much
I hate excercise haha.
Great tip.
My mom always said you are what you eat lol I guess it is true.
I don’t eat healthy at all. I really should try better. I say this as I’m drinking a Dr. Pepper.
I agree that its up to us how healthy we are and how fit we will become
I agree with that eating out is so much easier with busy life styles or when you don’t have to cook. I fall prey to that one.
I totally agree that we create on own health problems! 100%
We really do, especially with the way we treat our environment and livestock. We mistreat them which causes health issues in our meat.
Agree with the comment about creating our health problems with the way we eat and don’t make time to work out. How much time do we spend on FB?
It all has to do with eating and exercise. They are the most important when trying to keep the heart healthy.
I love the way i feel after i work out….esp if i really push my self. Also feels great to not cheat at the end of the day….
It’s definitely not easy to change your eating habits, especially since many of the foods you described have addictive properties!
