These videos were very beneficial, I did not know about the carrots helping you see see at night. I knew that you absorb some vitamin d from the sun but everyone is always talking about how bad it it for your body. I gree with moderation that the sun can help your body as far as getting vitamin d.

Vitamin C we get in such colorful foods. I am glad we don’t have just black & white. We can be healthy & bright & colorful. Vitamin A broccoli! fantastic. Cancer runs in my family. Good info.

I always knew that carrots helped with your eye sight, but I wasn’t sure if it was a myth or not. I’m glad to know that it is true, and I will definitely be eating more carrots!

I thought it was interesting that sunblock blocks the vutamin D from you.So you think your getting Vitamin D and your not.

Reply

Yeah, irritating to say the least. You think you are doing the smart thing and it ends up you are making things worse.

I really enjoyed the video on vitman D. People grip at me all the time for not using sun screen when I go lay out and spend long periods of time outside. I’ll have to show that video to my mom. It does make sense though that vitamin helps fight off infections and diseases. I rarely get sick. I love being out in the sun! Thats crazy that government recommends that low of a dose for vitamin D. Maybe that is one of the reason God created the sun. To keep us healthy. The video about vitamin A was interesting too. I have heard that carrots help with your eye sight. I think I should eat more.

Reply

MAO June 27, 2011 at 9:33 pm

These videos were great, but very disturbing. I would like to say I can’t believe our government would lie to us but actually I can. I have always been a very protective parent and made my kids wear sunscreen all the time and now I learn that it actually allows the UVA rays which cause cancer and blocks the UVB which is needed to process Vitamin D. I also had no idea that if you have darker skin your body naturally screens out more of the UVB rays that make Vitamin D.

As far as the first video goes, I knew that Vitamin A found in carrotts helped vision. The second video regarding Vitamin C suprised me because I was unaware that this vitamin was not stored in the body and needed to be replinished everyday. I also didnt know that women needed less vitamins than men. In the third video, I was completely blown away. I did not know that there was such a controversy over this vitamin. I was not aware that Vitamin D did so many things to benefit our health and I also didnt know that it was so hard to come by.

Reply

JM2 July 7, 2011 at 9:10 am

The controversy over D was surprising to me as well. Why cancer researchers wouldn’t be open to any and all possibilities is odd to me.

I liked all of the facts on the health benefits of Vitamin A, C, and D. I think it’s interesting how when you slice a carrot it resembles the body organ that it can help (the eye) – amazing how God designed that. Also, it’s good to hear some that you don’t have to avoid the sun altogether. I think that the sun in moderation is healthy for not only our body, but our mind and spirit.

Reply

TNS-2 June 23, 2011 at 9:03 am

I agree, it is definitely a relief to know that you do benefit from being in the sun even if for only a short period of time. It seems as though that is one of the only healthy ways to get the Vitamin D that we all need.

I completely agree that the sun is healthy for our mind and spirit. Being out in the sun always puts me in a better mood. I really do crave being out in the sun. I didn’t realize how God made these foods and the sun to keep us healthy. It really is amazing. Vitamin D from the sun to fight of diseases and vitmain A to help our vison!

Reply

LLM July 5, 2011 at 11:56 am

i agree with younabout the sun, to a certain degree I think the sun is good for your body. All though you feel drained after the sun exposure you are getting some of the vitamins you need.

Reply

lfletcher2 June 22, 2011 at 6:57 pm

I found it very interesting how vitamin A,C,and D is important to us. That vitamin A help our eyes to adjust to the light changes. Vitamin C is not stored in the bosy so it has to get replenished daily. Vitamin D the less sun we have the more cancer, flu, and autism occurs.

MRC2 M Cottrell June 22, 2011 at 4:52 pm

Wow, the video on the vitamin a was very interesting. I always thought carrots and the other yellow vegetable contained vitamin A. I did not know they actually did not. Your body converts the beta-carotene into the vitamin A that our bodies need for good eye sight. As a small child I remember my mother telling me that I should eat a lot of carrots because they had a lot of Vitamin A in them. She always told me that if I did eat a lot of carrots, I would get eagle eyes. She meant the carrots would make my eyes see way better. Now I can tell my mom that yes carrots are good for your eyes but they do not actually contain vitamin A.

Reply

BLisenbey October 4, 2011 at 5:10 pm

That is so cute that your mom told you that carrots would give you eagle eyes. I like that idea to get kids to eat their vegetables. it is interesting that they really dont contain the actual Vitamin in them but their ingredients convert to that in the end.

I think it is very interesting that sunblock is blocking vitamin D. You think you are getting enough when you are in the sun but if you have sunblock on it is doing you no good.

I thought that was interesting as well. It seems like the sun would be beneficial if taken in moderation.

I think the whole thing brings a balance. Hard at work then a little time in the sun. Didn’t realize sunblock was blocking vitamin D. Never used it much. Helps mental health to get out in sun.

first an foremost i am surprised that with the knowledge that these scientist are giving the government they still will not up the recommended dosage of vitamin d. it makes no sense to sell a killer such as tobacco and refuse to inform people what they need to keep them healthy. our government is so backwards. but i thought it was interesting how the the disease rates were higher the father you were from the equator. i wonder if you take a daily vitamin could you still take an extra 3500 units of vd?

i have always known that vitamin C was in citrus, but not that it was in all fruits and vegitables. i also didn’t know that vitatmin was that important. i have heard of extreme cases when it was absent causing riquetes, but never really heard of its benefits.

SG-

I was raised in a house that was a bunch of vitamin freaks, so I knew how important that they were. But sure did not know that the liver was a storage for vitamins. Mom always told us to eat our carrots or we would have to wear glasses, and for many years I thought that was just an old wise tale, but science says it is true.

Than I learned you can get it from the sun. So I would just sit outside for a couple of mintues a day and seen the same results. Its interesting what the body needs.

iidid not know that Vitamine A is a anti-toxient and that carrots have the betacarrotine–which converts–to vitamine A in our bodies. I like that Vitamine C is found in all fruits and vegetables. I will be upping my intake of vitamine D ASAP. It will come down to how much it costs as opposed to how great my intake will be but, to me some beats none anyday.

I need to add vitamin D supplements. I think the doctor in California is on to something that makes sense. It would be great if increased amounts of vitamin D really did help fight off colds, flu, and colon cancer as he suggests and as the data from his patients suggests. I’m like many of you, I thought that drinking milk give my body enough vitamin D. I’m going to start taking vitamin D supplements before our flu season hits. I hope it works.

I found the last video about Vitamin D to be very interesting and informative. I never had any idea how important this vitamin is until now. The fact that it can help prevent so many diseases and especially lower the risk for cancer by 60% was enough to make me immediatly make a choice to begin taking vitamin D supplements to ensure I am getting plenty of this vitamin, especially with winter coming up.

i didn’t know you had to have 75 mg of vitamin C for women and over 100 if your nursing. I should definitely take in more vitamin C daily. I love fruits but not so much veggies 🙁 and i definitely did not know about the sun block either and it’s shocking. I always thought that the more sunscreen you put on, the better.

Okay so we all know that vitamins are good for you. The video about Vitamin D got to me though. Its just another one of those things you think your doing right and someone wants to tell you that it’s wrong, or vice versa. There are so many different opinions from “experts”, but you still don’t know which advice to believe. I think that unless every single person in the world is studied accurately that there is know way of knowing if vitamin D will help you or not. Everyone is different and everyone’s body reacts differently to different things. I think that there is healthy and then there is just taking it to a whole different level. Get it from here or don’t get it from there. Either way we have to live and there is nothing that is going to keep us healthy and alive forever.

I never knew how much vitiamns made such a difference with our everyday lives. I always knew it was good for us but, never knew how important it is. For example, Vitiamn A contributes to how our eyes adjust to light changes and benifits our skin healthy and mucous membranes moust. Women need about 800 micrograms, and men need about 1000.
Vitiamn C is criticle for our skin, because it blocks damage. It also helps with the growth and repair(collagen). Strawberries and broccilli both contain Vitiamn C, along with orange juice of course. Vitiamn C is water soluble so it is not stored in the body. It is very important for consumption. Women need about 75 mg, pregnant women and men need about 90 mg. Women that are breast feeding need more about 120mg.
Vitiamn D regualtes cells, systems, and organs. It helps our immune system, strengthen teeth, athletic performance and reduction in cancer. Without Vitiamn D we are at high risk of cancer, stroke, heart diease and etc. We need all of these vitiamns to maintain a healthy body and life.

I love all of the new things I am learning from these video’s. They truly make a difference.

I have 20-20 vision but it’s not because of the beta-carotene my body gets from eating carrots and sweet potatoes. These two veggies are not in my diet. Guess I better look for other ways to get my vitamin A.

Lacey H. October 7, 2010 at 6:38 pm

I don’t mind carrots but I don’t normally have it in my diet but if it’s in something that I am eating well then I don’t complain because I know they are good for me and my eyes.

These videos are very informative about Vitiamins didnt realize the different ones. But, its really hard for me to eat cause i dont like much of the vegetables that have some of these vitimans. So i have to take vitiman suppelments.

Believe science or not believe science is a major issue because the theories do not work for everyone. I can see from the video that the major way to get vitamin D is in the suppliments and to my surprise milk does not make a huge difference. If that finding is true then I believe that someone has received a kick back to put that information out there. I feel great most of the time and as I get older I will have to look at what will help me maintain my youthfulness and good looks.

I am not a fan of the sun because I get too much when I am doing yard work. To know that I am getting healthy makes me feel a little better. I have curved my eating habits a lot and I do eat a lot of fruits and vegetables raw and cooked. My vision is actually very good and I hope with so much extra reading and looking at computer screens don’t harm it. I am enjoying getting healthy.

I know that being in the sun just a few minutes a day makes me feel better. I am for sure going to start taking Vitamin D supplements. I love broccoli, maybe when I get low on Vitamin A, because I don’t eat right, I start craving broccoli and cantaloupe. I am definitely going to try and do better for my eyes sake because the older I get the worse my eyes get.

As far as the sunblock, I sure didn’t know that it was blocking the wrong thing. That could explain when I put it on my little ones they would blister more than when I didn’t put it on them.

I love these videos, they are so informative. I have learned so much.

Amazing. Vitamin D. I have always tried to sit in the sun for 10 minutes a day to get my vitamin D. Now I learn it is not necessary. I think i will still sit out there anyway. There is something soothing about it.
Now the sunblock thing got me. I put it on and reapply when out for long periods of time. Am I understanding correctly that it has no benefit other than stopping you from burning? That alone is a plus.

MRC2 M Cottrell June 22, 2011 at 5:06 pm

What the video showed was that the sunscreen only blocks the UVB rays which supplies our bodies with the Vitamin D and lets the UVA rays through, which causes cancer. So yeah it keeps you from burning but you are still going to be more susceptible to cancer from sun exposure. The only reason I apply sun block is to keep myself from getting cancer. Now this video has opened my eyes. But you know I should of suspected that from our government anyway. The government needs a way to keep the population down so they don’t tell us these things. Oh they know about it all right! So many Americans are dying every day because the government is withholding information from us, and cures.
