I’m a very picky eater, so it makes it hard to eat all of the healthy things and especially to use the plant-based proteins.
Yea, I’m not a big fan of plant based proteins but I do love meat!
I shy away from plant proteins as well and take high protein supplements to keep a good dose of daily protein.
agree i am going to have to work on the plant proteins. I normally do meat proteins.
I think I good with almost all thew listed proteins expect for tofu and fish that’s a no go for me.
I’m a picky eater, but I usually steer clear of meats and beans which makes it hard to get the nutrients that I need. I will occasionally eat chicken, but I don’t eat any other meats often. I also hate any kind of beans or peas (I think its a texture thing), so I miss out on all the proteins you can get from beans also. I drink a lot of protein and soy protein drinks to try to make up for that.
I enjoy both, but like meat products better.
Im with you when it comes to beans. I only eat pinto or bake beans. HATE peas. just cant get down with the peas
I don’t see how you can’t eat meat. Meat is my favorite part of every meal. And yes you are missing out on the proteins you need because meat is the main one.
I used to be a SUPER picky eater when I was younger, but I have gotten a lot better about eating a variety of different foods.
I started away from meat red meat for about a year and found that too and brands were a really good substitute for protein.
My nephew isn’t much of a meat eater either and I’m worried he doesn’t get enought protein, he eats some beans but barely any and he hates peas…. so maybe trying him out on like a protein shake wouldnt be such a bad idea either.
I don’t eat a lot of meat but I do enjoy it when I do.
You should try lentils. You may not like the texture of these either, but it is worth giving them a shot. They provide a good source of protein.
I am a picky eater too and its hard to cut out things that I like from my diet that makes it even smaller. But since I am trying to be healthier this a really good guide to getting the best protein for your diet
I drink protein shakes in the morning for breakfast to ensure I am getting my protien daily!
I am also a very picky eater. I do not like bean or peas either. I actually have never tried protein shakes. I want to now.
Nothing is better than good lean red meat for protein.
I really enjoy chicken too. I also eat red meat and beans. I am not that much of a picky eater.
I have issues with texture as well. I would not mind learning more about plant based proteins but how to you know what the right amount of carbs, protein, and fat is that a person should be getting?
I am also a picky eater, but this video gave me some options I do like that I didn’t realize were packed with protein.
I can definently understand being a Picky eater!! I was once one but now I try to at least try everything once!
Agree, I’m not a fan at all of plant based products
plant based products (depending on what it is) is okay to eat.. some greens are nasty!
I love plant based proteins! Spicy black bean burgers are delicious. You can pretty much give tofu any texture and flavor profile you want.
I love meat but I also really enjoy plant based foods as well! So I guess I lucked out!
My dad raises cows for the meat and it has to be the most delicious meat i have ever had!!
I am lucky too that i enjoy majority of these foods.
I’m the same way! I love meat but also really enjoy plant based foods!
I agree Kayla…I enjoy most proteins.
I would love to start a plant based diet if I could just get over the mental block.
Me too! I’ve never been a very picky eater and I love meat and vegetables.
I am also lucky that I’m not a picky eater. While my protein mostly comes from meat I do also get quite a pit from plant based proteins as well. I try to limit my red meat intake though.
There is such a thing as too much protein. I think that people need to see how much protein they really need so they can balance it out.
I’m on the same boat, there isn’t much food I don’t like.
I like chicken and meat better than beans. I probably get enough protein without the plant-based. However, I realize that the plant-based proteins are really good for health.
I’m the same way you are. Chicken and lean meats are some of my favorite foods, which is great because they do honestly supply enough protein. However, it would be nice if I could get myself to eat more plant-based proteins, because I know they are good for your health.
I agree! I am way better at eating chicken and meat over beans, even though they are better for your health.
I had to incorporate beans into my diet a few years ago when I decided to get healthy! I put salsa on them and can eat just about any beans because I know I need them in my diet.
chicken is my favorite lean meat but I also like tenderloins and veal as well.
I agree. I love steak, chicken and meats in general. I like beans and other proteins also but not as much. And they usually seem to take longer to fix.
I love chicken and meat the most as well. The only beans I really like are refried beans and baked beans. Haha!
I try to do the lean ground beef when i can but i try to stay eat only chicken I lose more weight when I do.
Proteins either way are good for us but we have to look at were they come from.
I love chicken to and meats just not the unhealthy meats. I also love plant foods so i do get a lot of proteins. i enjoy most protein food too.
So do I,but I like it because of the flavor!
I love chicken so I probably get enough protein without the plant-based as well. Plant-based proteins are really good for health too but Ill just stick with chicken.
I myself am a very picky eater so I don’t eat plant based proteins but I do get plenty of protein.
I love meat and eat tons of it so i know my protein intake is good, but i do definitely need to try more of the plant-based proteins as well.
I am the same way blusinger. I do eat lots of protein! now I just need to add in the other nutrients my body needs.
I’m the same here Fairlife protein shakes are the way to go or Fit-Crunch bars they taste great.
Be a picky eater but always try out new stuff. Pick what you like and what you don’t, don’t eat it. Just make sure you get those plant based proteins!
I have to agree, always try new stuff. I used to have people ask me a lot how I got my daughter to eat so many veggies, I said I put them in front of her. She still enjoys trying new things food wise. She is also a runner now so she thinks healthy eating probably more than I do.
I’m the same way, I don’t like the thought of eating some of the things they have talked about.
See I personally do not like tofu and soy milk. So some of those items they descibed soundwed not that appetizing to me either.
I agree. Tofu is foreign to me. I’m unsure how to prepare it and season it. I am also unsure of the texture.
I had a hard time eating plant based protein, but I think it’s just a taste that you have to develop I absolutely love vegetables and beans now.
There are ways to to some of the proteins that that are not to our taste to make them more pleasing to our pallets
I wish I were not so picky. It’s always challenging for me to eat enough protein. I do not like meat that much. I try to get protein by eating beans, nuts, protein shakes and veggie burgers. I will occasionally eat chicken or pork loin and maybe a lean cut of beef, but not that often,
I had no idea of how many pant base proteins there was until they started talking about them here in the video.
I know that being a picky eater leaves not may healthy choices for food.
There are a few plant-based proteins I will eat, but I love my meat as well. I am always watch my protein/ carb intake. I learned a long time ago to eat both at the same time, since it helps with so many things.
It is good to eat them both together since the carbs and fat helps to more completely digest the proteins.
yeah I could never go vegan, I really like my meat, and I’m just not really sure about these plant based proteins. Plus apparently you can’t get everything you need from the plant based proteins.
I think that with more education and access to more foods we could get all our nutrients from a plant based diet. Sadly Walmart does not have it all!
I agree! I would never go vegan as well.
I don’t think I could ever go vegan either. I love bacon way too much.
I really try to research and prepare before going grocery shopping so that I can prepare protein rich foods that are good and that I wouldn’t mind eating again.
Does the body need plant-based proteins or do they just offer a variety? Because I eat a lot of meat but I also eat some of the plant-based proteins as well.
Me too! I certainly don’t eat healthy fish, like salmon. I have tried almond milk and I do enjoy the taste, but there is always a contingency it seems. If it is healthy, it isn’t cheap. It is hard for lower economic families to participate in eating a diet with lean meats, since hamburger meat and hot dogs are so much cheaper.
Eating healthy is so expensive! Plus the healthy/fresh items run the chance of going bad before they are cooked/eaten. People who have large families to feed and who have to make their food last an extended period of time can’t always afford to eat healthy. I have noticed though that making your own homemade meals and taking some for lunch is way cheaper than buying frozen TV lunches in small portions that leave you hungry!
I really don’t like the fact that it is cheaper to eat unhealthy then it is to eat healthy
Im with you i really do not eat plant based proteins. If its not in beans and chicken and turkey I want get it.
I am also picky but recently ventured out to try tofu and it was surprisingly good.
I am right there with you. I am one of the pickiest eaters I know.
That is a bummer. I am a vegetarian, and I use plant-based proteins to get my necessary proteins. I am a big fan of edamame, soy, and quinoa. Maybe if you try preparing the plant-based proteins differently, you will like them better. When I first started eating mostly plant-based proteins, I was a little weary, but I found ways that I like them prepared, and now I am hooked!
Same! I used to be such an easy going eater, now that I am getting older I am finding it more difficult to try new things in fear that I will be disgusted.
Yes, I agree. I am very picky as well, and it makes it difficult to obtain all the required protein for a healthy diet.
Luckily I’m not a picky eater so ill eat just about anything fruits, vegies, meats and anything in-between.
I am a picky eater as well just when it comes to certain things.
I’m a very picky eater as well, but quinoa is a good source of protein, and as long as I think of it as rice, I really enjoy whatever dish I make that includes it.
I am a picky eater unless it comes to my meats, I will basically eat any kind of meat. Except for plant based proteins. Other than plant based proteins I want my steaks.
I am the same way. I am very picky at what I eat, but I will not consider myself to eat healthy. I have never really liked plant-based proteins but I am going to try to fix that problem.
It is different for me. I am not a picky eater, but I do need to increase my protein intake to a more beneficial level.
I too am some of a picky eater. But, I like to try new things, so I tend to be able to ecorporate a good amount of lean proteins into my meals. One thing i love to eat is beans, i put them in many of my meals.
AAtkin2020
I also have a hard time at incorporating plant based protein in my diet but I am slowly getting better at it.
It is so hard to remain a picky eater these days. You should try Pinterest, they have a lot of great plant based recipes.
Same here with being a picky eater. I am not a fan of trying new things, but eating healthy can be hard.
I’m usually a picky eater as well, so I make sure to try foods I like that have a lot of protein in them. Sometimes, I would usually have fried rice with a few grams of protein.
When I was younger, I always thought that the only way I could intake protein was from meat only. Now I know that it can be found from many different sources of foods.
I thought the same when I was younger. It was nice finding other sources of protein as I grew older.
It is definitely good having other source of proteins as well. Why should man live on bread alone ? But lean protein should be what we go when next we thing of protein rather than anything else.
I used to think the same thing
The lean proteins are so much better for you and sometimes the cost is cheaper too!
Its a good think I love meats because I am not a fan of plant based foods but you can find protein bars that help just as much and do the same thing as the plant based foods.
I love meats as well, and I also eat protein bars occasionally. I am not into plant based foods
We have beef cows so meats have always been the main source of protein. I’m not against the plant based foods but I prefer the meats.
I thought the same thing when I was younger. But now I know that protein can be found in many foods.
I started to work out and to eat more protein including protein shake. My protein shake ingredients are almond-coconut mil, banana, and peanut butter. Yummy!
I thought the same thing. It is great to know all the different sources to get protein from.
I used to think that too. Now that I don’t eat meat, I am learning that there are many other sources of protein that I can add to my diet.
I thought for several years protein came from meat only. I’m glad to see that I can cut all meat (except wild game) from my diet and still have alot of choices to get the needed protein. I’m looking forward to this change even if it will be a bit of a challenge.
I thought the same exact way. Glad to know there are more options now that I am older.
I grew up that way too. That’s why it was such a shock to me when I first started learning about nutrition in school and everything. And then when I became a vegetarian, I REALLY had to learn.
There are so many people who think that and give vegetarians such a hard time. I really like how that video named the top 10 things that are high in protien and only listed a few meats.
i thought the same, when you think about protein the first thought is meat. i was also unaware that there were complete and incomplete proteins
I thought the same way! After watching this video I know that protein comes from many different foods, too.
I thought the same thing for sure. I also thought fruits and veggies classified as vitamins haha.
One choice with protein that my family has made was to use turkey meat. We use turkey meat in a lot of your everyday meat meals and most of the time you cannot even tell a difference. I love it!
I agree! I love turkey and if seasoned right, you can’t really tell a difference.
I wish I could agree with the turkey meat, but I find it a poor substitute for ground beef. I have tried my tacos with turkey meat, however it is so different that I can not use turkey as a substitute. Maybe I need your seasoning techniques.
I have started using ground turkey and I can’t believe that it tastes so good. It is actually much better than burger I think. You don’t get all that grease like burger.
I do not eat ground beef at all! I always buy the turkey meat! I make meatloaf’s, burgers, meatballs and I love the flavor. It all really depends on how you season it! I have friends that hate it!
I also use ground turkey instead of ground beef. When I made the switch, my family didn’t even notice. It is a simple way to improve our eating habits.
My parents started off by using half and half until we developed a taste for it and started to prefer a lighter healthier burger.
That is an excellent source of lean protein!!
I will substitute meat with squash, zucchini in tofu and find that the meat is not misses from the meal but that our protein needs are still meet
My family does the same! It is said to be better for you, and I really cannot the difference.
80 grams of protein is recommended daily for women. Getting 80 grams of protein a day is very difficult. Since I have the LabBand, I’m supposed to eat 3 ounces of meat at each meal. I used to keep count of the calories and protein I had each day and I never got the amount of protein that was recommended.
That must be tough for you, have you tried protein shakes?
I like the way she take you right into the grocery’s store, and show you the red meat and tips on the cuts, and detail information on red meats.
she makes it very simple to understand what we should be looking for in meats
I agree it was very informative and gave great options of meat to choose from. I liked how she explained the marbling in the beef and explained it on each cut of beef.
So do I! This was a very informative video!
I agree! She gave great info. and tips.
Couldn’t agree more with your comment. She is on top of it and made this video quite interesting.
As I’ve gotten older, my interest in red meat has dwindled. I did like how they showed other sources of protein. I’ve always wanted to try tofu but know nothing about how to prepare it.
I agree. I knew a little bit about the amount of fat in meat packages by looking at them, but the video taught me a lot more. I never really thought that the different names of the meats signified the location they came from. The woman in the video was on top of her stuff, and gave me new ideas on how to determine which meats I will buy in the future.
Oops! My bad, I hit reply on the wrong comment.
I agree. I knew a little bit about the amount of fat in meat packages by looking at them, but the video taught me a lot more. I never really thought that the different names of the meats signified the location they came from. The woman in the video was on top of her stuff, and gave me new ideas on how to determine which meats I will buy in the future.
Even though I don’t eat meat personally, I still did find that part of the video interesting as well. I never knew what to look for in lean meats even back when I consumed meat.
Eat red meat but after watching this video it make you rethink about red meat, very good information.
Definitely important to know how much is the good amount to take in, because I have known people that were adding way to much protein to their diet while trying to build muscle and horrible constipation was one of the results! One of them almost had to go to ER. It may sound like a stupid mistake, but a lot of people have no idea how much is sufficient.
Great! I work nights and have a problem with eating without meat, after all I grew up with my mother always planning our meals 1st. What will go with the meat.? Also, Now you really don’t know what additives the animals have been fed to increase profits. Unless you go organic. I love cottage cheese and fruit. I had a friend that used to eat cottage cheese as a salad with celery, tomatoes but she did use salt and pepper with it. I may have to try it without the salt.
I love cottage cheese, fruit and healthier foods too, but have still found getting away from red meat really challenging. I’m always open to ideas.
I always buy lean meats. I don’t like the way that the fat tastes, so when I buy meat I always look and see which one has the least amount of fat. So, atleast I eat healthy meat, even if I don’t eat other things that are healthy.
It’s very easy to make your own low fat turkey sausage patties instead of buying the links she mentioned to stay away from. Take ground turkey, mix just a little olive oil in the meat, and season with sausage seasoning until they taste just how you like them once cooked. Make a bunch of patties at a time, layer them with wax paper and put in a freezer bag and pop them in the freezer. Voila, you have handy, healthy turkey sausage patties. You don’t absolutely have to add the oil, but I think it improves the flavor with a little fat. Just make sure they are eaten within a couple of months.
That sounds great, I love your recipe idea!
Thanks for the idea!… I had never thought of that.
I sometimes will go on diets where I eat eggs for dinner every night for about 2-3 weeks instead of other forms of protein. I know now I should mix in fish and there are some other types of meat that are good for me as well. Now, I will add beans in there, too! But I had no idea how much protein we intake on a daily basis! The minimum amount of daily protein for a woman is 80 grams. I will remember this.
I try to make 15 bean soup a couple times a year and add in meals of fish and eggs for breakfast all year round. I have my own chickens, so I don’t have to worry about where my eggs come from.
Eggs are awesome! I made fried rice tonight with scrambled eggs and I make boiled eggs several at a time for a quick breakfast or snack.
I tend to eat a lot of eggs as well, usually for breakfast or lunch though. For me, it’s more of a cost issue as a dozen eggs supply the protein for several meals at a relatively low cost. Though I do not shy away from plant based proteins, I should probably make more of a conscious effort to increase my daily intake.
I do eat meat but just once in a while. I do not go on diets because I do not trust them. I think eating in a healthy way is the best way to lose weight. Anyhow, I try to complete the proteins I consume in order to get the amino acids needed. For example, whole wheat and peanut butter is a snack that provides a dose of all essential amino acids and plenty of healthy fats to boot. It would be better to get the complete proteins from animal meat, but I just don’t like the meat at all. I love to eat fish which is another good resource for protein.
I used to love red meat until I watched this video. I may still eat red meats, but I will think twice also.
These videos were good for me to watch. I didn’t really know that the redder the meat is, the less fat it has on it. Very good information.
I didn’t know that either. That will help me greatly when picking out steaks for my family in the future.
Those pauses the speaker took were very distracting, and the music was very overbearing over the audio~!! 🙁 Didn’t like this video so much, tho~ I thought the difference in protein between men and women was interesting~!! 🙂 I wonder why women need more?!! Or did I get that backwards, O.o ~hmm ♥♥♥
I think they said men need more protein.
We must all stop eating fast food! & Also I am going to try and cook more.. no more fast food for me! I enjoy the taste of hamburgers and hot dogs just need to start cooking them more.
I’ve never been a big fan of hotdogs, not after learning what all is in them 😛 ♥♥♥ but, I’d eat me a hamburger any day~!! 😉 definitely prefer homemade over fast foods anyway~!! 😀
I have eaten meat all my life, however I only eat clean meats due to religious reasons (See Leviticus 11). So I’ve mainly stuck to beef and chicken, and vegetable substitutes. I’ve grown up eating soy substitutes for meat, and can say that, frankly, a lot of them are delicious. So if you’re wondering about it, just try them, and you will find that while they don’t taste exactly like the meat they’re supposed to imitate, they are still very tasty, and healthy.
I hate to admit this but I eat more red meat than I should and we eat hot dogs a lot because its quick and easy to make after a busy day.
I would choose chicken over beef anyday! I love me some chicken and i love a good hamburger too but it just doesnt do for me what chicken does or fish does. Now how i cook the chicken makes it all go down the drain, but i will defiently be working on that
I agree! I love chicken and fish way more than red meats
I love chicken also! But you cant beat a good steak!
I found this video my favorite so far because I love high protein diets! They always get me more lean and muscular rather than stick skinny. Protein fuels your body and is very important! Good to know I as a woman need to consume 80g a day of protein, and balance it throughout the day.
This was my favorite, too. I prefer protein foods because they keep my blood sugar stable and because I eat gluten-free, protein foods help me get the calories and iron that I need.
I honestly never really go grocery shopping until lately. I live on my own and try to cook more often at home instead of eating out and i had no idea the white part was all the fat in the meats. I will definetly look for that more often! I also am going to make sure I get the 20-30 grams of protein in a meal since she said that is how much a woman can absorb in a meal. I also thought the plant protein was interesting. Opens my mind on a lot of new meals for myself.
I think it is crazy how much protein we consume a day with eating meats. I will try to keep my protein levels at their normal range and eat proteins instead of many fats since protein energy lasts longer
The videos were really helpful. The second video gave had a lot of good tips on what kind of meat to buy and what to look for when buying meat. But has anyone eaten buffalo? Does it taste good?
I haven’t, but wouldn’t mind trying it.
I follow several fitness icons on social media outlets such as Facebook and Instagram. One thing they have in common is that they ALL stress the importance of protein in the diet. Many of them also rave about protein powders, like the one mentioned in this video. I think that a lot of people have the misconception that the more protein, the better. As we all know this is not true, eating lean meat (at each meal) can easily add up to the daily reccomended amount. In addition, protein can be difficult for the kidneys to filter out.- Just another reason to be cautious of our daily intake!
I also follow fitness icons through social media. I am not one to necessarily follow them regularly but it is nice to have a good solid reference when I question certain food intakes.
I tend to eat protein on a daily basis. Although, I never knew to pay attention to the fat content.
I just eat what I like and think is good.
And I should eat more fruit and add things to it.
You need 80 grams of protein for a woman..a day?? WOW, such a shocker.
80 grams does seem like a lot! I didn’t realize it is that many grams!
I love skinless chicken breast. I eat it grilled throughout the year. It is by far my favorite meat.
I love grilled chicken breast, it has to be one of my favorites as well!!
Yes I love grilled chicken breast as well.
There’s nothing better than grilling up some good food.
love grilled chicken breast,also
I thought the video on plant based protein was interesting but it seems so complicated. That is, you have to find the right amount of nitrogen intake in the plant so that the plant will have a higher amount of protein. At least, that’s what I got from what he was saying. Plus, a number of the plants he has there can be found at whole foods but they are a bit expensive. I guess it goes to show that there is some truth in the fact that if you want to eat a completely healthy diet it’s going to be a pit expensive. Myself!, I’ll stick with the low-fat meat I find at the supermarket like lean beef and turkey meats.
My family loves to eat quinoa! My son is a football player and is always hungry and always wants more meats. I learned about quinoa from my hairdresser who is a vegan, and she recommended it for my son to get extra protein without the extra fat from more meats. I usually prepare a large batch at a time, then season or substitute it anywhere I would use rice such as in a casserole or to make a bed for layering stir fry chicken and vegetables on. While you are right that it is more expensive than white rice, it is far more nutritious!!!
I really like meat, all kinds! I love to get a medium rare steak. I love chicken, pork all kinds of meat. With this being said I am very cautious of what meats I’m eating. I limit my red meat to twice a week and eat mostly white meat, as well as fish. I love grilling out and that is such a good way to prepare meat to cook out a lot of the bad that you get with some meats.
I love to cook grilled chicken on the grill throughout the year, its nice to know that I am choosing a great meat with lot of protein in it!
We definitely can’t go wrong with grilled Chicken Breast!
I love red meat. If I ever get a steak it is medium rare, but not too big. I don’t get alot of protein since I live on my own and I’m always on the go. If I ever go to the store and buy protein it will be chicken. My family including myself are avid deer hunters. We have alot of deer meat and that is probably my favorite to actually eat and it is very lean.
I actually found the part of picking lean meats very helpful. I always buy the meat my mother bought when I go to the grocery store. However, she will be notified of her unhealthy choices. I will also try to eat more beans as a source of protein because I often forget about them and that will add variety to my diet.
I found the tips on different cuts of meat helpful too. I also liked that they reviewed other sources of protein as well. I have tried to incorporate more chicken and less red meat in my diet so I found this video helpful.
I refuse to eat any meat that is almost burnt as some people may say. I feel that eating almost raw meat could be costly to your health.
There is a huge difference in eating the right foods and eating the bad foods. When I eat healthy I have way more energy and feel awesome. When I eat unhealthy I feel so lame.
I feel the same way when I make unhealthy food choices. It leaves me feeling sluggish and dissapointed with myself.
I feel this same exact way when I eat without thinking about it first. There is never a time I don’t feel disgusted with myself after eating out.
I love chicken breast, cottage cheese, and yogurt I don’t think I will have a problem getting all the protein intake I need. I did not know there are some many varieties of plant proteins.
I have been eating great as far as protein goes, but I am happy to see that it gave me more options to eating different sources of protein not just red meats and nuts….
I think I need to eat anything that will help me stop all the cravings. I knew the protein was good for you but I did know all of this. I have a hard time finding the good stuff so I like video 3.
This videos were very helpful. It has always made since that lean meat was healthier. I like to eat in a variety. I eat some red and some meat. It was helpful to find out which foods also had a good source of protein.
I like chicken breasts. It has less fat than ground beef, and I really think it tastes better than beef. I’d rather eat yogurt than cottage cheese, but I will eat either. I’ve never counted up my protein intake, but I am going to start so I am making sure I get 80 grams a day.
I think what surprised me most about the protein in chicken breast is that you really don’t have to have high amounts. Contrary to what was stated in the video I also thought the more chicken breast, ie, 8oz., you eat, the better. But, obviously not since the body won’t absorbed all of it at the one sitting. So, now I know that eating just a bit of chicken breast such as the 4oz. suggested is enough in one sitting.
I knew red meats had high protein but they can also have high fat. I love chicken, cottage cheese, and since buffalo is so hard to find in Arkansas deer meat is a great substitute, my freezer is full of it right now. One of my other favorite proteins that really wasn’t mentioned much but is awesome to eat is fish, my daughter and I love salmon either smoked or pan seared.
My family goes for the Deer Meat. It’s a must in our household. It’s less fat and isn’t so hard on our stomach.
I agree with this comment. These foods are yummy and good in protein.
This video was good I always thought that red meats were the best for you I guess I was wrong.
I thought the same thing lol
I also had always heard that red meat was good for you. I recently found out it was not from my fathers nutritionist who told him he needed to not eat as much red meat.
I see now a lots of good ways to get protien. I also see you have to have the correct balance of protien, carbs and fat for optimal success.
My household makes our ranch dip using Greek yogurt. The dip tastes better and pairs great with sweet peppers or other vegetables that pair well with dip. Buffalo is not always easy to find. We use ground venison to replace much of our ground beef usage. If you do not hunt personally, you may know someone that does not care much for anything other than the back strap.
I have read several that like the ranch dip with Greek yogurt, definitely going to have to try that because I love dips and veggies. I also use venison and there is nothing better than a deer tenderloin smoked.
I also use Greek yogurt a lot. It’s a weekly item in our refrigerator because we don’t eat a lot of meat in my house. We actually use it in place of sour cream and you can mix small amounts with low fat cream cheese and put on bagels. It’s easy to get together and really enhances food while at the same time giving you a boost in your protein intake.
I’ve had buffalo because I have family that can get it pretty easily and I didn’t like it that much. I prefer deer over any kind of meat.
I am going to have to try using the Greek yogurt to make ranch dip, sounds like it just might taste good and help with my protein intake!
I am definitely going to have to try the ranch using Greek yogurt. I have never heard of this before.
Proteins reducing cravings is interesting. Maybe I need to up my protein intake because I crave a lot especially when I’m hungry. Men being able to consume more proteins than a woman wasn’t a shock to me. Cottage cheese being a protein was though. I love fruit but the cottage cheese I cannot do. My grandparents love cottage cheese with fruit and I can’t even stand the way it looks.
To kill cravings, I have three favorites. Nuts are good sources of protein, but I sometimes get carried away. To keep from over doing it, I eat from a cup instead of from the can. My new favorite snack is fresh sweet peppers dipped in Greek yogurt ranch dip. The last I keep at work to avoid unhealthy cravings and is jerky. It is high in sodium, but I feel satisfied after consuming a relatively small amount.
I tend to choose chicken breast and ground turkey over ground beef when I actually eat meat. My problem is trying to get my husband to eat those things because he prefers red meat. I have found that if I do hamburger or red meat once a week we are both happy with our suppers.
I like boneless chicken breasts and I like lean meats. The preparation process is where the problems arise.
I will be looking into plant protein.
I totally agree. I eat alot of chicken and lean meats. But one big problem that I feel everyone has is cooking it right. It just seems easier and quicker to fry it but I think that takes away from alot of things.
When I cook chicken breast, I usually grill them. Its super simple and really tasty! Be careful which marinade you use, it can really make a difference in your taste. Grilled chicken is one of the healthiest ways to eat chicken breast.
I agree..I prefer grilled/baked chicken breast or steak. It is time worthy preparing the food but the protein intake is worth it and extremely important!
I had no idea that a good balance of fat, carbohydrates, and proteins promotes absorption and makes you feel hungry less often! That’s something I’m going to try
I knew lean protein helped with muscle mass but I did not know that it helped curb cravings! I also am going to make sure I get the 20-30 grams of protein in a meal since he said that is how much a woman can absorb in a meal. I actually love turkey links for breakfast and DID NOT KNOW that it was made with all parts!!!!! I am going to switch! As far as plant proteins, I dont really know much about all that because I get my protein from other sources.
I have a hard time digesting ground beef even when i chop it up into tiny pieces so I stay away from things that make me have problems and i have been known to have anemia and the first they tell me is to eat red meat for the iron but im happy to know that there are other things to eat beside red meat.
I am a very avid hunter and I process all my game myself, deer, duck, hog, turkey, fish, dove, quail, and even squirrel. I do love red meat and if I am to order a steak at a restaurant it will generally be an extra rare ribeye. I am trying to adjust my diet to a more plant based diet. I would like to try and limit my meat intake overall. I will not completely throw it out but I do think that it plays a big factor in fatigue.
I don’t like meat of any kind that is anywhere near raw. I am more concerned with germs and unwanted bacterias than with protein and fats.
Medium well to well done meat is actually far more healthy for you anyway.
I agree if I bite into to any meat that is even a little raw gag cant do it
I agree with you. I don’t know how some can eat raw meat, it’s pretty disgusting and can be harmful to the body.
Cottage cheese does have a good amount of protein in it. I like to puree different fruits such as strawberries, pineapples, and peaches and mix them together with cottage cheese as a “sweet” snack. Lean meats such as chicken, turkey, and fish DO help you lose weight. I went on a binge once a few years back where all I cooked with was chicken and turkey and I kept my carb intake very low, and I lost almost 25 pounds! It was just from cooking with the lean meats. I love me a rare steak every now and again but for hamburgers I prefer ground turkey. You can also find lean pork and red meats but the best for you is poultry and fish. And again, I will say the best thing to add together in a protein shake is flax seed and good fruits high in antioxidants. (berries)
I agree that eating lean meat will help you loose weight and its healthy for you. I just can’t get past flax seed. To me it makes the product taste bad
Eating lean meat does help tremendously. I try to find most of my protein from outside sources anyway, but I will definitely never touch fatty meat again. I have over time developed a hatred for it.
I’ve always had a hard time loosing weight, so thanks for that bit of information cooking with lean meats. I will try that and see where it takes me.
Has anyone ever seen the movie supersize me?
Was it when he went to McDonald’s for breakfast ,lunch and dinner every day.
I think that by the end of that movie I was getting sick myself just watching him and his body and mind go through such a drastic change. Wether is be free-enterprise or greed or whatever – Its slowly but surely killing America

I totally agree, these processed items are so bad for america as a whole. My wife got my kids hung up on McD’s nuggets and I had to work very hard to get them off of them.
That was awful and very sick. Fast food is what is wrong with the world today
I agree! I think Fast Food advertising should be band regarding foods unless they advertise Healthy Foods they offer.
I’m so glad I did watch supersize me, it broke me and my family from getting their combo meals. Now on the rare occasions we eat there, we grab something off the dollar menu and usually drink water to force ourselves to moderate!
Indeed, super size me was a fantastic documentary. It is a real eye-opener as well, the results of his eating habits were reflected clearly. Ouch!
Yeah, we had to watch it in high school for our nutrition class. It was awful. I know that McDonald’s is bad and unhealthy, but I never knew that it was that bad. I couldn’t bring myself to eat McDonald’s for the longest time after that.
Yes! I loved that movie, it was an eye-opener… however it made me hungry, not grossed out like I think it did most people. The key is moderation… everyone should know that you can’t eat like that all of the time. But I also think the people that deprive themselves of “splurge foods” also aren’t doing themselves a favor. Most of the time they end up binging on those or equally as bad foods at some point.
